66 same old crap, but 67+....

Well, besides a slight upset by Jardine, cant really give UFC 66 more than a 6/10. The Spike Fight night on Jan 25 looks like crap too. With that being said, it looks like the next couple PPV's will have some substance. 67 looks to be one hell of a card and I for one cannot wait to see the look on the UFC fans faces as more and more of their favorites drop to Pride fighters in the coming months. Gotta feel for Lutter and Sanchez though...

    UFC 67 PPV
Georges St. Pierre vs. Matt Serra
Mirko Cro Cop vs. Eddie Sanchez
    Anderson Silva vs. Travis Lutter
    Quinton Jackson vs. Marvin Eastman
    Tyson Griffin vs. Frank Edgar
    Melvin Guillard vs. Dustin Hazelett
    Scott Smith vs. Patrick Cote

Oh, and it looks like Dana lied to GSP, couldnt get the fight in Montreal as promised. Its happenning in Houston instead. Hope this isnt because of Hughes not wanting to fight in Canada and they are going to do GSP vs Hughes 3

That card actually looks awesome on paper! Usually awesome matchups are doomed to boring decisions but still i must admit that card is probably one of the best potential card i have seen UFC put together.

Tyson griffen will be a top contender for the lightweight belt. I dont think he will take it but he will put up a great fight. In a few years he easily could be champ.

Yeah I will second that motion.

I'm betting someone actually has to spend the night in the hospital after this one.

I have seen tyson fight.. He is a great lightweight but I don't see him having much chance of beating sean sherk. I don't see sherk losing that belt until he is just ready to quit. He is by far the biggest 155 I have ever seen.

Gomi, sakurai, Kawajiri are all just as big not as cut up maybe but just as big. Give tyson time and he will be a champ. I like sean alot and he has always been cool when he has been at the fights. But he beat kenflo lets give him him time till we say put him in the top 5 lightweights. Also if penn drops down and stays at 155 he will embarass sean. I am a native minnesotan and it hurts to say it but it is the truth.

Ye i agree i dont c sherk losin n e time soon unless Bj stays at 155 after his fight with pulver. I think penn would take sherk but would be a good fight.

66 was typical beatdowns also, only a couple subs and no decisions. 67 looks to be about the same, result wise. Other than the fact that Cro Cop and Rampage are fighting the other fights will be boring/easy victories.

Just because rampage and cro-cop got popular in pride, doesn't mean they should or will always be considered pride fighters. They are ufc fighters now. You may look at it as pride fighters beating ufc fighters(although rampage won't beat chuck), but i look at it as the ufc expanding their talent base while pride sits back and does nothing. (except lose big names, and watches fedor fight for bodog)

That's pretty much true for all fighters. Everyone including myself has criticized dana white for being cheap and not paying for the premier talent in the world of mma, but you got to give him credit for paying more for cro-cop than pride would.

He has no choice its going to be eat or get eat real soon Pride is invading the USA big time, there is a lot of dates and PPV in 2007.

Right now UFC is the No#1 organization in the US and Canada, and if Dana wants to keep it that way he has to give what the people want.

After all there is line between being greedy and making some nice money, how much do you think Dana makes with each UFC events, say there is 1.5 Million buys around the world at 40$ a pop thats almost 60 Millions per ppv and the salary for each ppv never exceeds 2 Millions $.

The ufc has done a pretty good job of crushing competition in the u.s. I don't see that changing anytime soon, especially since pride has apparently decided that it doesn't need or can't afford as many mma superstars anymore. There was a time when pride was leaps and bounds ahead of the ufc as far as talent goes. Over the past year that has become much less evident. I just think mma fans (including myself) who criticised the ufc's talent acquisition capabilities in the past, should acknowledge that is clearly closing the talent gap with pride.
