I wouldn't count him out at all. a knockout doesn't have to happen on his feet or are you guys forgetting how he knocked out Jason in his last fight? Rashad has great takedowns and although i've never seen anyone take Rampage down yet, other than Igor i think once in their fight, Rashad is the guy to do it.

Did you guys see Rashads fight last night. It was actually a pretty impresive knock out. He kicked Salmon straight in the chin and he was out cold.

Rasheed is steadily improving be interesting to see where he is career wise a year from now and who he fights.

He was getting beaten around the ring and got a KO on a guy that fought half the fight with his hands down by his waist, not to mention Salmon was breathing hard 2 minutes in.......give me a break!

Was wondering why he neglected to throw a HK when Salmon obvioulsy had no striking ability and was not covering his head. Finally, POW and a nice HL reel KO for years to come.
Why people neglect Muay Thai in the UFC is beyond me. They all wanna be boxers or something, it makes me sick the way 85% of UFC fights look.
So many times i see a perfect opportunity for a Thai clinch with knees, nope instead they try to punch the guy out. So retarded IMO. Hermes Franca was a perfect example of someone trying to finish by punching instead of clinching and going to the knees. Fisher was ducking low as hell from being tired and Franca still swung wildly for his head, i was yelling "Thai clinch, knees"...it worked for him this time thanks to the ref but oh well...
Then Anderson Silva shows up and puts on a ****ing Muay Thai clinic all while cleaning out the MW division. I love it!
Leben and Rich had no ****ing clue against a real Thai clinch. It was like watching Royce fighting guy's back in 1993 that knew nothing about BJJ.Last edited by Panzerfaust; 01-27-2007 at 12:37 PM.

yah i don't understand it either. People in my gym do the same thing...they train boxing or with a kick boxer but not muay thai...

Rashad's boxing was horrible!! No effective jab or anything. He was swatting and pawing instead of an effective jab. I don't think there are any UFC fighters that have good boxing skills. They all neglect any body punching and very few know how to effectively use the ring to their advantage. Even Tim Sylvia with his height doesn't know how to use a jab effectively. And the sports greatest puncher Chuck Liddell, wings his punches hoping for that one shot knock out.
But I also agree that if more fighters trained Muay Thai they would be much more effective. I've seen some great Thai fighters with awesome boxing skills because they are taught awesome boxing skills in Muay Thai.

I also agree, alot of MMA fans seem to think Wanderlei and Chute Boxe is what Muay Thai is about. While they are a Muay Thai school, they are also a MMA school and Wanderlei and the MMA fighters do not have a traditional MT approach when it comes to MMA and that is ok because it is not a MT fight.
Muay Thai fighters have crisp and powerful punches, it's crazy how fast and powerful those little guy's are..and the elbows and knees are downright ****ing brutal.***No source checks!!!***
