Pride for sale?
I read on sherdog a few days ago that the president of "pride USA" was interested in buying pride. There was also speculation that the UFC was also looking into purchasing Pride. What do you guys think the chances are of this happening?

I Think It Would Be Great....imo...i Like Pride..their Fighters Are Great...and You Could Unify The Titles...but I Also Think You Would Lose Some If Not All Jap Fighters

I doubt pride will sell to an american. It would change the rules alot becouse of the fact they would be under an atheletic commision. Pride wont sell and if they did I would expect the ufc would pick up alot of there fighters.

If the ufc does buy pride, i think they would still do shows in japan. I think they would probably do around 20 shows a year all over the world. The fights would be great, and the titles would be unified. My only concern is with the lack of competition, the fighter pay may suffer.

Quote by Dana White in a recent interview "IF PRIDE IS FOR SALE, I AM INTERESTED"...check out the link to the article. It is very recent and in depth and one or the more candid moments with Dana White.

sorry I guess the link is not working. Just type DANA WHITE BALTIMORE SUN into google and it should pop right up as the first search result. Check it out. Did any of you guys catch the Frank Shamrock vs. Renzo Gracie fight last weekend on Showtime?

I think UFC will eventually buy Pride, but like stated before I think international comp will suffer because the rules will change. The only way UFC has become successful here in the states is because it had to compromise its rules in order to be sanctioned by athletic committees here in the states (particularly Las Vegas and California). I think it would be good for the sport to have one organization. Sometimes a monopoly is good for a sport. Just look at the NFL, major League Baseball, and the NBA, and compare it to the shambles boxing is in with all it's alphabet soups!!!!
