Need Training advice.
Well, I'm in my second week of training, and things just aren't clicking for me the way I thought they would. Ya, I now I'm a beginer and all, and things take time. But man, sometimes it's just so frustrating. My biggest problem is wanting to grab the other guy's gloves when sparring, and turning my head when either of us throw a punch. Is this sometheing that will take time, getting use not to do. Also, do you guy's think that 24 years of age is to old to want to start learing this stuff. I mean I moved out of my home town to give this a go. And I've been hearing a lot of different sides to it. I figure you guys would give me more of a straight answer than anyone.

what kinda training is it? If it's boxing? Damn straight you are gonna have problems after 2 weeks. Calm down... promise you no one there just "naturally" took to it ...boxing...mma whatever it is. 24 is old to start a career... but it's not impossible and honestly who said you have to be a professional to train. I bust my ass knowing i'm too old and won't ever be able to compete past amature. So what I still love it.
Be patient....patients is a fighters best tool

about the grabing, and the turning away when trying to hit your guy.it comes from turning your head when your getting hit. thats usually were it starts from. remember when you turn your head while you get hit, it only gets worse!!! and to honest with you. your coach has no bussiness putting you in there to spar just two weeks into being there at the new school. my pros barley step in there to spar 2 weeks into the trainging camp. sparring is the best for fighting period, but can be the worst if you dont know what your doing. you can keep continueing to repeat bad habbits if not corrected. thats why you shouldnt even be in there for at least 2-3 mounths if your a beginer, and even at that you should only even be doing sparring type drills. just remember, sometimes you got to slow down to go faster. good luck.

yah i used to do that where id turn my head. id also close my eyes. try doing bag work with a tennis ball under your chin. if you move your head to far or dont have your chin tucked, it will pop out. after you take a couple good ones to the chin youll stop turning your head. its something youll do less and less. at least your concious of it...

i used to blink when id see a punch coming. Nasty habit. It takes time to break these habits. Armbar83 has a nice suggestion. I may actually try that to remind myself to keep my chin down.It will take time, as the other posts have said, and certainly in mma as well as almost any other sport, there is no quick fix. What helped me immensely is sparring. At the beginning you'll hate getting hit in the face, but eventually you may begin to like it. Sounds kinda creepy eh. Dont get me wrong, nobody likes getting hit in the face, but i use it to my advantage because i know i messed up if i got hit in the face, which will make me try harder so that mistake does not happen again. It takes time and most of all consistency and hard work. Good luck bro.
