If you want to box in competition you will have to cut way back on your lifting and also change your routine quite a bit. I boxed in years ago Phoenix so If you need gym info let me know.

very light weights. If you start going heavier, your punches will be way slower. It happened to me, i wanted to bump up a weight class so starting lifting heavier and punches became way slower. If you want to go heavy, id recommend breaking up the year into parts. LIke say 2-3 months of heavy lifting/bulking while maintaing minorly boxing. And then switch to lighter weights and then concentrate on boxing more. Thats the way i do it anyway. Hope that helps

You guys seem to be well informed about this, i would like to start KyoKushin karate in the near futur and there is also a lot of punching and kicking.
I love to lift too but would anyone of you guys have a full sample weight lifting routine you could post.
How many sets, reps, rest time between sets if any, how many times per week, and what exercises to do.
When i was young in Kyokushin we did a tone of push ups, squats and sit ups.
I did have a hard time hitting the gym at that time and imagine i was 16 i am going on 35 this June YAGGGGG.
LOL thanks in advance guys
