My First Pankration Fight
I will be posting the results and video of my first MMA fight on YouTube, regardless of the outcome. This will be on an Amateur level with So Cal Pankration in the Open skill bracket. My stats are as follows:
Age: 26
Height: 60" (5'8")
Weight: 175lbs
Neck: 16.25"
Abdomen: 31.25"
Arms: 14.75"
Body Fat %: 9.6%
Wrestling: 6 years [high school and post-high school club teams]
Jiu Jitsu: 2 years [independent study with one-on-one trainer]
Boxing: 1 year [independent]
I don't care about winning/losing so long as I can pound someone into the mat and get better while doing it. We'll see what happens.

I lost both of my fights. The first one was a total blunder and a missed double-leg take-down that led to a full mount and rear naked choke.
The second is more entertaining and will be posted soon.

Despite the poor showing, this was my first MMA competition, period. I accomplished what I wanted to in that I gained more knowledge and experience in the ring.
Next time will be better.

lol i posted last night but apparently it iddn't go through since it was late at night.
I think that you might want to think about working on your fundamentals before you think about getting back to another fight...even amature. If you continue competing mma with bad fundamentals, they will become bad habbits and will be VERY hard to shake. If you are doing it just to learn like you said..that won't help.
Keep your hands up at all times. Rushing in with a push kick (i think that is what you were trying for...kinda hard to tell) with your hands down is an easy way to get knocked out. Your kicks in general...i assume you were trying for inside thigh kicks? They looked more like downward push kicks, Flexibility problem?
I'm not trying to dog you... i just think you need to train more before you go back to another match. Just my opinion...ignore it if you want
p.s when you go for a double leg and end up trapped like that...try to trap the guys leg and walk around it right off so he re-adjust and pull you into his guard.

my point exactly...I have an iron jaw...doesn't mean i rely on that. Whether you fight a chump or a champ you should keep your game the same.
going into a fight this time...or maybe next time with that mentality means that you will get into a bad habbit and you will be put out sooner or later.

I don't see how it's so odd, actually; PRIDE FC lets their competitors do the same, though I can't compare this to PRIDE, obviously.

Are you attending a formal school or anything for your training? Where do you live? You're welcome to PM me this information if you feel it's too private.

in 2003 there was a cool MMA school which had BJJ and Boxing, teacher was Donald Ouimet (he compets in MMA in TKO organization) but the school closed.
Other then that its pure scrap shotokan karate, kenpo musical kata and other lame arts.
I have my eye on this kyokushin school that has evolved and has some jiu jitsu in there training.
Lets see what the futur reserves.
