Joe calzaghe Vs Peter manfredo Jr news
Peter Manfredo Jr is facing his toughest challenge in a couple of days on april 7th and I wanted to know Do you think he has any chance at all of beating calzaghe,I still wounder if Lacy would of won or had a better chance if he would of listened to the game plan that his trainers set for joe, anyway I think joe is a great fighter and do you think manfredo jr has any chance to pull this one off?

Manfredo doesnt have much chance of winning hes only boxed 12 rounds a few times...ill go with knockout within 5 rounds.
As for the lacy fight...lacy has to hit an apponent in order to have a game plan 2000+ punches by joe and 150 max by lacy.
Do the maths = Lacy was hammered made to look amatuer.
Aprt from that im looking forward to the fight as i live on westgate street 2 seconds from the millenium stadium woohoooooooooooo

I'm tired of these contender fighters. One of them was demolished by Andre Berto the other day, The snake or what ever his name is thinks he's a champ and won't fight J. Taylor in memphis and now Manfredo.....

Im gonna go out on a limb and say YES. He Absolutely has a chance. Calzage looked like shit in his last fight, and manfredo has looked GREAT since Freddie Roach has been training him.
Whenever you have Freddie in your corner... you have a chance (IMO).

Manfredo has had Roach as a trainer for awhile but not recently because of Roach's obligations to DLH for his fight. Manfredo has also had Sugar Ray Leonard and apparently had a very good training camp. People also forget that ever since the contender ended Manfredo is arguably the most improved fighter.
And Lacy isnt that great of a boxer in my opinion, at least not in Calzaghes class. He just doesnt have the hand speed to be considered among the elite. Hes a little too mechanical.

Calzagne is a good fighter but not a great fighter. He has great skills and great speed, but the arm punches and weak punches will lead to stoppages, but won't work against great boxers. The only real challenging fighter he faced was Jeff Lacy, but Lacy had to go over there to fight him. I won't take anything away from him because he dismantled Lacy, which gave me a new found respect for him. But now I want him to fight more top fighters. He won't even mention Mikkell Keshney (sp?). He now wants to fight Bernard Hopkins, who is 43. But he never would come over to fight Hopkins when Hopkins was in his prime. He talks about Jermaine Taylor but according to Emmanuel Stewart, the negotiations never went anywhere because Calzahgne is leery about coming here to fight.
I think the Manfredo fight was stopped wayy to early. But it was inevitable. Manfredo is a B fighter at best. There is no way he should be in the same ring with Calzaghne. If he wants to be respected here in the states, it's time he fights some real fighters.

Manfredo never had a chance and he knew it too. Did you guys see how soft he looked? When ever he would bounce on his toes his belly and the small of his back would jiggle! No V-Taper there! When your given the biggest chance of your life as a fighter you have to make the most of it. Moving up a weight class isn't an excuse to get fat. I think he looked much better when he was around 155. He probably could even peel down to JR middle if he wanted to.To JC's credit he never takes anyone lightly. Although he did give Mnfrdo to much respect early. May have been feeling him out though.
I hate to say this, but I'm not sold on Roach as a great trainer. He has had some wonderful fighters, but just doesn't sell it for me. I've seen some of his training videos and some of his corner work and he seems to have a really hard time communicating strategies with his fighters. especially when they need to try something new during the fight. Most of the great fighters he has had were over flowing with talent to begin with. IE Mike Tyson, James Toney, Michael Moorer, Virgil Hill, Manny Pacquiao and Wayne McCullough. He never could control Toney or get his fat *ss in shape. During the marques fight pacquiao never tried anything new when he couldn't finish marques and roach seemed helpless in the corner. This was after Manny destroyed Barrera and was seemingly at the top of his game. Any thoughts?

Looking at a referees view he didnt give an answer to a 15 punch conbernation and thats why it was stopped.
Manfredo has been fighting for years and will know the rules...if you dont fight back then it has to be stopped.
Looking at the angle during the fight when it was stopped it did look like he was hitting his gloves and arms.
But when looking from the middle of the ring alot of thoughs punches did land making alot of trouble for manfredo to come back with anything.
Apart from that it was a very bad card...Enzos apponent Bobby Gunn ...the guy shouldnt have even been given tickets to watch never mind fight.
Khans apponent did he not realise he has to throw punches in order to get points.
Dont even get me started with the takaloo fight i felt so sorry for jennings after him clearly winning all the round maybe 1 or 2 were split.
But the judges scored it 113 - 115 .... 114 - 115 ....and the other judge who was actualy watching the fight scored it 111 - 117 wich was still a few rounds off.
