I think Pride Strikers are at a disadvantage in the cage

I’m actually a bigger fan of the pride fighters than I am most UFC fighters.

Wandi, Shogun and Cro Crop are probably in my top 5 favorite fighters with Bob Sapp and Rampage.

I really think they will not do that well in the UFC though. I think the ropes are an advantage to the chute style fighting. Strikers normally need a little distance to get the extention on the blows to make them effective, even if it’s a looping hook like wandi likes to throw.

Look at UFC 49 and watch Wandi take on Tito. You would expect Tito to get slaughtered by Wandi, really fast too. Sure at one point Tito is turning around and sprinting to the other side of the cage but he still wins.

CC then loosing 2 times in a row. I think the first time was a fluke, but Congo just flat out beat him in this one.

I guess we’ll see what happens when Shogun fights. He’s probably the most impressive chute fighter out there at this point. I don’t think forest is going to give him much of a hard time. But I think the clinch is more effective in pride against ropes that move than against a solid wall you can back against and straiten yourself up on….to be honest I think rampage might be able to beat shogun in UFC for that reason.

CC is a tuff SOB to finish the fight and bounce back after his first UFC loss.

He's one of my favorite fighters. But I still don't think he is going to dominate as much in UFC like he did in Pride.

I think Randy is too smart and too experinced to loose to strikes if they fight also.

Ya, you have to be well rounded to win these days. Henderson, Shogun and Fedor are probably the most well rounded fighters coming into UFC. Rampage proved to be quite well rounded too.

sure they are. Until they get beaten. Fedor is as close as it comes to being a top level person who fights a lot and still doesn't get beaten. Sure lots of up-and-comers have undefeated records but that always changes. How many fights has Fedor lost (I think 2) and they were both avenged savagely..

Hes lost once to Kohsaka and yea he did avenge it but ill im sayin is n e 1 can get land a lucky punch and knock him out......not likely but still it can happen. Jus look at sum of the upsets that happened this year no 1 could predict those. That could happen to Fedor, who knows...

It could happen, I'm still in shock from Tito beating Wandi...who would have ever thought.

Eventually, everyone looses. The best part of MMA is anyone can beat about anyone....it is also the worse. You are always on the edge of your seat and always worried your guy "might" loose.

Im not going to go with this idea at all. I think a well rounded fighter should be able to fight on nearly any stage. If the ropes make that much of a difference between winning and losing, then you just arent prepared. Thats just my opinion. If your 'style' depends so heavily on ropes, you dont belong in the UFC in the first place. I think your point could be somewhat of a valid reason for these loses, but its a real weak reason.

Thats what I would call a 'Micro Cop Out' (get it?...oh Im just a ball of laughs)

I disagree, and here is why. The ring is closer to real world fighting, than the cage. The cage confines you to much, and to me this is a horrible disadvantage to strikers. I mean it isnt like in a real fight you have to be worried about being trapped in a cage.

I agree, the octagon is tailor made for ground fighting, takedowns etc...
