    Power punch

    Hi guys.

I am totally new to this.

I do want to sign up for school for kick-boxing where my buddy goes.

Before that, I wanted to practice some of nice and powerful punches. I have a set of 14oz gloves and some other ones as well and big 120Lbs full size kick-boxing bag set up in my basement.

I am 6'3 239Lbs and mainly have been building the body and strenght. Now I would like to use it in a fun way as learning kick-boxing. So, any advice is good as I don't know much. I would like to develop a very strong and powerful punches. Any special exercise I should be performing?

Bear with me, I am as noob as it gets with this

    Thanks guys!

there are a lot of muay thai vids that can teach some good kicks but IMO best punching power always comes from boxing technique, i am a bit bias but IMO if your in a boxing stance and throw through a punch you generate more power than if in an mma stance. I sparred with a kickboxer once and made the mistake of using my punching range as the distance and quickly got kicked in the ribs, I had to circle his dom. leg constantly and try and pepper him while circling, it was a bitch, I never even tried to kick as i didnt know how. I would just train, you need to be humble when getting into any kind of combat you are not fimiliar with, if the teacher/s cant be respectful of that, youll need to find a new teacher. It takes a while to perfect technique. Way to go though bro, good luck with it, you should be a powerful mofo once trained

Power is hard to teach, however technique isnt. Practice throwing hooks, keeping your elbow up and twisting your body. Try keeping your hands up and your chin down. Exchanging punch for block. gl
