Shogun Vs. Coleman?
I guess first and foremost who do you guys thinks takes this one. I for one see Coleman as over the hill and someone who was a pioneer but never evolved. He invented the Ground and Pound and made it cool. With that being said I see Shogun taking this by submission but I think a better question is why even have this fight. I agree that Shogun should fight a "can" or have a warm up fight but at 205 not Heavy! Most people who watch the UFC have no idea of the Hammer House Chute Boxe fued to begin with. I see Shogun dominating but I still am having trouble making sense as to why this fight is happening. If we are going to go with the Chute Boxe Hammer House fued why don't we have Wandy fight Randleman on the same card? Just a thought

Cause Randleman blows ass...
And this is a decent fight.
Coleman is over the hill. But Shogun at HW? = Coleman has a good chance...
I think Coleman CAN hold him down... Will he get KO'd before getting him down? Maybe?
Coleman doesnt do well against good kickboxers...

This fight is happening at HW?

The HGH and test alone in Colemans system would weigh in at 205+! Coleman can control but Shogun has better jits than most give him credit for.......ask Randleman. You are right about Randleman being aweful but he still scares me. He has the scariest prefight interviews of anyone and then he runs out and fights terrible! Can you imagine if the UFC actually let that Coleman v. Lesnar fight take place? WHat a stomping that would have been! I am not a huge Lesnar fan but young and one dimensional beats old and one dimensional every time.

He was never the same after they took away head butts! You have to admit Colemans carrys a different 225 than Shogun. Shogun has a large frame but the Juice Hammer is straight thick!

True there....
I dont see it going all that great for Shogun...
I think hes the favorite, but its a lot closer than most expect.

Its at Heavy for sure. Shogun always toyed with the idea of jumping to heavy when he was in Pride. He has the frame for it. Either way if not a great fight its at least interesting.

Im sure its at HW... Idk for sure though, ive heard Coleman talking about 205..
-

Its at 205. Shogun said before that he thinks that ufc LHW are very big compared to him and other pride 205ers, so why would he move up to HW.
Also check out the article on mmamania.com it will confirm it on there.

Coleman fighting at 205? This has to be a first. I've always been a huge Coleman fan, along with Randleman and Kerr. I'll take the old man to go 2-0 against Shogun.

I would love to see some old guys fight each other as under cards.
Coleman, Frye, Shamrock, Severn ect, ect. They would exciting and fair, I dont think using them as gate keepers against up and comers is any good.

Oh yeah I forgot Bas! He is one of the few on that list that is not completely washed up. How about Bas vs. Kimbo. Teacher vs. Student. What a mauling that would be. Mark Hunt is amazing. I would love to see him slug it out with Sylvia. I think that would be a very interesting fight. AA vs. Hunt would be solid. Barnett would take him down and destroy him. Buentello would be great. Hunt would own him but they would stand and trade.

He just got anklelocked by Alistar a couple months ago...
Hes a seriosuly sub par MMA fighter... Amazing kickboxer for a guy who weighs close to 300lbs.
Just for the record, Wandy and CroCop both won those fights...
-
10-03-2008, 02:06 PM #25
Wandy absolutely.....CroCop no way! Crocop sat there looking scared after Hunt took everything he could dish out. All Crocop did was stare at the clock. Crocop with his head right is amazing but without it he is terrible. Hunt has no sub defense but can bang with the best of them. Does anyone else want to see Hunt Sylvia? What about Lebanner vs. Sylvia?
-
10-03-2008, 02:14 PM #26
JLB would get tooled against Big Timmy...
And CroCop picked him apart! Sure Hunt was the aggresser, but CroCop connected like 100 times in that fight!
Just cause the guy has a head of concrete doesnt mean CroCop didnt land the shots!

But Hunt puts on a show. How about that jumping head kick where he almost fell out the ring, was great. Im not saying Hunt would be top 5 or maybe even 10 but i would buy his PP everytime. Hunt/Gonzaga !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about Hunt LeBanner with little gloves?
-
10-03-2008, 03:47 PM #31
Dude theyve fought like 3 or 4 times already... I think itll be more of the same...
-
10-03-2008, 05:28 PM #32
well in mind if someone is going to knock out Hunt it might was well be Lebanner in small gloves. That being said I still highly doubt it, something is wrong with his head. A blue belt can arm bar him but I'll be damned if anyone can knock him out.

first round win for shogun. he beat shogun the first time on an awful fluke. shogun will destroy him this time with punches, knees, flying knees, kicks. and if it does go to the ground, where shogun is a bjj black belt and coleman still can barely defend the guillotine, coleman has no chance once again

Coleman can barley defend a guillotine? Not true at all! Coleman has only been sub'd by Nog, and Fedor.
Shogun only has ONE submission in his career. Against Randleman and it was the lamest attempt at a kneebar ive ever seen.
Marc Laimon has said before if he had to rank Coleman's sub game, hed be as high as a Brown Belt.
Now dont get me wrong, i dont think Coleman will be able to sub or even beat Shogun, but the facts are clear, Coleman is a great ground fighter.
Now the question is, can he get Shogun down? Idk, maybe...
I still have Shogun by tko rd 2, but this is will be a lot closer of a fight than most people think.

Boy I dont think this is going to make it out of the first round, Shogun has to redeem himself. I say Coleman doent set up a takedown , shoots and eats a knee. Gomi/Gracie style.

Shogun does not finishes fights with his sub skills but he sets everything else up with it. He is very able on the ground and transitions amazingly well. I think Coleman is in big trouble
