Yes good card, going to be a fun nite with some exciting fights, hopefully this will mean their payper veiw will step up also. They have almost every MMA fighter at their grasp if they want.....or a very high percentage.

That is quit sad actually because its like WWE, my way or the highway.
I dont really think that affliction will survive, its behond me that they where able to fill in 700 seats for there October PPV that was cancelled? with all the talent and first PPV which was amazing.
Dream in Japan is also struggling.
Hard to beleive that MMA is the fastest growing sports when you see that UFC is the king of kings and all other promotions are all shadows.

I wish they would scoop up all the major talent be like a NFL, NBA, NHL, MBL... and have more fights, more money, bigger better looking shows and pay fighters enough to retire on aswell. Alot of fighters I like to watch are fighting sometimes and I don't even hear about it till the day after cause I can't keep up with so many damn organizations.

As much as i love the UFC, and i do.
They arent paying us what we should be getting.
Im not gonna go all Tito Ortiz on everyone and say we should make 15million a fight like Oscar De La Hoya, but i mean at least the title holders should be makin 3 or 4 million.
Most guys make under 100K a year.
That may seem like a lot but its really not.
You have gym fees, training partners, gear, not to mention the regular expensives in life.
Trust me, it takes it toll.
The most i ever made was 20K for a fight. And i was shit ass happy about that.
If it means that the pay scale will rise, then im all for one big company taking the leads.
If not, people will fight where the money is.

I agree with all of you, I've always wondered what ppv income to pay out was. Just like to know what the ppv pay outs to the better taken care of fighters

I wouldnt know what to do if i got 500K for a fight...
I would piss myself...
Its a damn disgrace, and that prick wonders why professionals hate his ass.

To bad he already spent it on hookers and a boxing coach......oh wait it must have been all on hookers.

This Ive also wondered, does the gym get a straight cut from the "purse" or do you just pay straight fee's or both?
Now about a big company taking the lead in return meaning betterr pay scales is great, but like big business their taking out the competition leading them to controlling the pay like they wish. I feel for you guys, I hope the small shows start to better also, those guys could use the money also, and Im not talking IFC and what not, SMALL shows.

I hope Bas got mad enough for having to even be associated with Kimbo that he kicked his ass. Bas is still legit and god would I love to see his retirement fight be against Kimbo.

As far as fighter pay is concerned I totally agree that it is borderline criminal what they are paid. 5 and 5 is dog shit. At the bare minimum these guys are in camp for 6 weeks prior to a fight and lord knows that they get injured after a fight so if you really think about it an average fight can easily take up to 4 months, often more, of a fighters year. So assuming a low level UFC fighter wins that is 10k over 4 months. Are you kidding me? How can anyone even afford to break into the fight game? What if you were an up and comer and lost? 5k for 4 months of work? I know a lot of these guys to get sponsors but those generally come after continued success. My hat is off to anyone that has made or continues to try and make it in spite of the shitty pay.

Couldn't agree more but still Bas? He seems to be the one dude that has made plenty of money and is still so well respected. Obviously he probably saw some talent, because in all fairness Kimbo has talent (at least some) its just that he had little training/time to back it up. Shit, I'd train Kimbo for a couple hundred g's

That is the main reason why has much has i love and respect you MMA guys i really hope you have a back up plan for your future.
I mean how long can you fight in MMA, with all the injuries and being the hardest sport ever.
I mean you have to build your bank account when you can and also plan your retirment years, you cant do that on 20k per fight along with all the expensive things you need to pay on your own, training coach, and more.
When i was younger i really had a dream of becoming a pro wrestler, i got into a pro wrestling school payed the 4000$ for training, but when i saw the dark side of it all i guess i turned it all around.
MMA is really just starting out, boxing has been around for so long.
That is why many MMA fighters seeing that they couldnt make a decent living turned to pro boxing.
Has for Kimbo well he can thank the internet for is fame and also the network for pushing him that much and making him invincible, he looks really mean and has a lot of power but lets face it he got a long way to go before becoming the next big thing in MMA, and if he would have fought in UFC against real heavy weights he would have been exposed a long time ago.
Life is like this in all aspect unfair, i mean even at my job some people can grab there asses and do what they want all day long but other screw up just a bit and the boss is all over there ass.
Thats life and the more you want to understand it the more you get confused.
Good luck into your future fights and lets hope that the $$$$$$ gets better for all you MMA fighters.Last edited by yannick35; 10-19-2008 at 07:22 AM.

Good thing the fights were free... Total snooze fest... Ok, maybe not that bad but wasn't great either

I can only say so much...
But ive fought under the BTT banner.
They take 35% right off the top.
But that includes manager fees, training, training partners etc...
Its not that bad, but in Brazil, we fight 2 or 3 times a night. Making 1 or 2K a fight. And if you win a tournament, there is a larger purse. Usually like 5-10K.
Not that bad, but still...
Its gotten better recently, im still a member of the team, but i dont train with them before a fight.

The fighter pay is by no means amazing. But unfortunately with the new of Elite shutting its doors and Heroe's struggling I think we will continue to see under paid fighters. Its unfortunate but I do not see that trend being broken outside of a few marquee names.
