Help headaches/depression!
Hello to all, I have been doing boxing for a year and lately after alot of sparring I am gettin headaches that last for 4 or 5 days afterwards. Dr. told me it was concusions. I have also noticed that I get severely depressed afterwards when I get alot of headblows. Is this to do with headinjury or just getting my butt kicked? I am thinking about stopping and not competing and maybe just going to train to keep in shape.

Go to a chiropractor to get your back in aligned and see if that helps with the headaches. Did in my case.

Depression is common in lineman and boxers because they take some many blows to the head which can cause brain damage.
Honestly i don't know if id continue if i was feeling depressed and you can link it specifically to your sparring. It just wouldnt be worth the long term damage if your not really making it in the boxing world.

Stress headache and self help treatment
Hi,
Headaches and stress are two conditions that affect the quality of life and health of many people. Usually these two conditions are interrelated, as stress is a main cause for headaches. Stress headaches are difficult to handle and the only way to get rid of them is to be able manage stress effectively. In cases that the self-help methods for fighting stress headaches do not have the desired result then you should get advice from a specialist doctor.
For the relief of stress headache, you can initially use analgesic drugs such as paracetamol, non-steroidal analgesics and aspirin.
Activities such as relaxation exercises, meditation, yoga, reading a good book, watching a good film, walking, cycling, swimming, running can provide a very good way to fight stress headache.
Exercise can also help to address depression and other negative psychological situations.
The massage of head, neck, and shoulders is a good method for getting quick relief from stress headache. The hypnosis, a warm bath, treatment with small magnets or electric currents, is additional methods that can be used to address the stress headaches.

well...i really would wonder what kind of sparring you are doing getting blows to the head hard enough to cause problems? Are you wearing head gear if you are getting hit that hard?

Try this
Cure / get rid of headache without pills
* Tip your head slowly to the sides and stretch out the muscles of the neck.
* To massage the aching spots works temporarily if you also at the same time try to figure out where you got to relax in order to get rid of the pain more permanently.
* Exercise. The human body needs physical work. Nothing is better against physical tension than running uphill a ski-slope for instance. Painful in the beginning but a pleasure after a while when you realize that you can make it - and to be able to run up a ski-slope is self-esteem and prestige everywhere.
* Drink enough water - but not too much. Headache is also often a result of dehydration, but also the opposite, that some nowadays drink too much water and thus dilute the nutrient fluids in the body causing abstinence of sorts.
