i knew manny was going to knock his ass out but i never thought it would be so quick. that was a 1 sided fight and hatton never stood a chance.

Yep, knew manny would kick the shit out of hatton, but with all the hype, I expected hatton to go more than two rounds.
I didn't pay to see the fight, but I can't wait to see the tape. In boxing, a good old fashioned ass whoopin is my favorite thing to watch. Close matches are boring a lot of the time.

I said it before, Pac man is too fast for Hatton. I agree with PT tho, I didnt know it would be so quick.

Floyd needs to get down with Pacman now!!!!
-
05-03-2009, 09:50 PM #11
I didn't think he would win that fast or convincingly but I thought he would stop him late in the fight. Manny looks damn good
-
05-03-2009, 09:50 PM #12
Can I please get someone to agree with me that Manny will beat Floyd????
-
05-03-2009, 10:05 PM #13
Ok! I agree with you! ninja...

i think floyd would beat manny. manny is a great fighter but he definatly isnt the best lb for lb fighter ever like some writers are portraying him to be. floyd jr in his prime would destroy him but now i think it would be a great fight that will definatly happen in the near future because there is to much money not to

Floyd will Beat Pacman. Floyd is on another Level. Truthfully the only person I see giving floyd trouble is Sugar shane or Zab. Zab almost had him before except zab wears down after 5 rounds.

Zab is a Loudmouth But dont deny his Boxing skills. Everyone in Boxing Knows Zab is a Monster, It is also well known once you get him past round 4 you more than likely will win.

Floyd is amazing no doubt but I honestly do not see where all the love comes from. Manny is relentless and I think he would put the stink on Pretty Boy

Floyd better worry about Marquez before he starts thinking about Pacman.I honestly see floyd winning the marquez fight, the same way he wins all his fights,by hit and run.The pac fight will be much different as his speed will be less noitcable against pac. So Floyd dec. marquez then Floyd decisions pac in the fight of his life.Unfortunately i'd love to see Pac win,but not sure at this point.

The love is coming from the fact that the man has never been in trouble in any fight before. He's stepped up to the plate time and time again and won convincingly (except for one fight). I think the hate comes from the fact that PBF doesn't mix it up the way casual fans want him to.
Brown you're a MMA/BJJ fan and I've read you rile against casual fans who boo MMA matches that go to the ground, but yet you rile against PBF for not mixing it up. I don't understand it. Floyd is a boxer, not a brawler and he wins with his boxing style. He jabs, moves, throws lightning fast combos, moves, ties up when needed, etc. His defense is awesome, he's barely been hit even when fighting much bigger and/or stronger fighters. His game is complete. Pac Man has holes in his game. He is a straight ahead brawler with great speed and power. But his defense is suspect. He's tailor made for Mayweather, IMO. Sure Mayweather will respect PacMans speed and power, so he'll jab and move and make it a boring fight, but in the end he'll win on points and be content with that. That's what great fighters do, they win with THEIR style, boring or not. And the fact that they can dictate the pace of the fight is a testament to their greatness.
I look forward to the fight!!!

Umm, Floyd running and an MMA fight going to the ground are apples and oranges. Its MMA not boxing so going to the ground is an EQUAL PART. Watching great ground skills is more interesting to me so I agree with Brown. By the way, I am not saying the Floyd runs away all the time, I am saying your comparison is way off.

I have no problem with the way that Floyd fights. I think he is amazing. He is the best counter fighter that i have ever seen and has footwork like no other. That being said I still think that Pac Man has a very real shot at beating him. I just don't think the gap in talent/skill is as great as a lot of people are making it sound. Thats all

I hate the guy, but not for his style or ability. I hate his mouth, and his old man. (and his old man's mouth)
Pacquiao gets better each time he boxes now under Roach. He is unstoppable. I saw Floyd take 8 long rounds to do to Hatton, what Pacquiao did in under 2 minutes..
Pacquiao now has a right hand. And he is STILL LEARNING AND GETTING BETTER, STRONGER AND FASTER....PBF has never fought an opponent like Pacquiao right now, nor did he ever really get pressured to start scoring in any fight he has ever fought that I have seen. Floyd's clinch and counter works, but I see Pacquiao spending the next 9 months training against sparring partners using the PBF routine. He will be so ready to deal with this "undefeated" (and untested) big mouth.
Pacquiao could grab a Shane Mosely on his way to Mayweather, but I think everyone is counting the aging champ out. He seemed a little desperate to go with the Pacman in a post fight interview I saw, and I don't see it $ wise, or meaning much beyond a 7th title. Not a bad idea actually now that I just wrote that.
The fight vs PBF will be around December, I bet, and it will be Pacquiao in a TKO, middle rounds.

I have to get in on this action.
As i do boxing myself and tend to study fighters I seriously would have my money on Floyd against the Pac man
Floyd is just incredible, perioid.

I don't box personally, but I have been a fight fan for a long time, and for the most part, bet with my head, not my heart. Please explain why you see PBF in the money against Manny. No flaming here, just curious. I have seen about half of Mayweather Jrs fights, and the last 4 years of Pacquiao's.

^^^agreed. Nothing against floyd i just see manny being so good at the moment

The reason why I'll put money on PBF is because, Floyd is bigger and faster with better defense. Manny is a straight forward, very busy fighter, great speed and power. But the fact that he does tend to get hit...alot, feeds right into the type of fighter Floyd is. IMO, Manny will attempt to lure Floyd into a brawl, but Floyd won't fall for that, he'll box and fustrate Manny until the later rounds.
You can't compare what Floyd did to Hatton to what Manny did to Hatton. Hatton fought two different styles against the two opponents. Against Floyd, Hatton tried to box and it didn't work against the bigger fighter. Against Manny Hatton tried to bully the smaller fighter and got bullied himself.

I think the comparison is valid. Hatton is not past his prime, and that was his weight division. I saw Hatton come out charging at Mayweather until he ran out of gas. Not trying to box. Yeah, two different styles, and PBF is a patient, deadly boxer to be sure. That patience is going to cost him a lot of hard punishment right off the bat. He plans on going round after round with Pacquiao who can easily do 12 rounds, wearing him down? I think he will be the one this time, that starts to get desperate when Manny lands a lot of power shots.
You do make interesting points, and I don't think you are entirely wrong. However, I doubt if PBF is going to be all that much faster than Pacquiao if at all, nor stronger (I see him "accurate" vs. "powerful" and his chin has never really been tested). Pacquiao seems to be able to hold his own against "bigger and stronger" fighters by being well, stronger and faster.
PBF is coasting as far as I can tell, when I look at his last fights, I see a great boxer going sideways.. He has ducked lots of fights. Pacquiao is going up, and decisively. Sure, he has been caught a couple of times, and he has fought a few "Shot fighters", but not from his decision to do so, merely timing. I think we are seeing his capacity to learn from his mistakes, and be highly coachable, and certainly, he and Roach are the best fighter/coach team in boxing today.
Either way, an incredible fight is likely to happen once (and IF, though it seems likely) Mayweather gets past Maquez.
I think he is the guy that will unlock the secret to PBFs fighting style.

well this is the new generation of boxing were good fighters dont fight each other untill they are past there prime so the fight might not happen for 10 more years (half serious) but if they do fight ,an floyd gets a tune up fight and trains hard ,and comes in the fight not wearing platinum chains and comming in on his ceasar lift . no body in that sport can beat floyd at 100%but if he takes manny lightly ,hes going to get knocked out .or my perdicion is ,that floyd takes a fall so the can have a 3 fight trilogy, to save a dying sport . but even thats probaly not enough

This will be an incredible fight when it happens. And it will.
JMM/Mayweather should be a very interesting fight.
And in regards to Pacman/Mayweather. I actually think pacman has the skills to give Floyd some problems. You hear from Pacmans sparring partners, alot of whom are bigger, much bigger and they will tell you Manny hits like a middleweight. Speed, power in both hands, quick feet and intelligence is a tough thing to beat. How will Floyd react when he gets hit flush by a few of Mannys shots?
