I just read that man. I am surprised that Dana wanted to get Kimbo on the show. It will be interesting to see how he interacts with Evans and Rampage. Also do you think he had to fight to get on the show like everybody else?

LOL thats awesome! Did hew have to fight? I probably think he did. But i would'nt be suprised if he did'nt. After all. This is going to be the "MOST" watched season just because of Kimbo Slice. Dana is a business man and although i think he is a money hungry prick. I also think because of that he is a very smart business man and knows exactly what he's doing. Should be a great show.

06-02-2009, 08:55 AM #4Slice is, by far, the highest-profiled candidate to ever make the show that prides itself on harvesting undiscovered talent.
Gonna be funny if he gets tooled by a TUF "amateur"... wasent Seth P from TUF?

Take him down ... Make him tap ... Send him home.
-
06-02-2009, 12:15 PM #6
well he fits the group he is with...bunch of amatures who aren't ready to go pro yet but are going to try anyway.
-

I forsee this happening.
I hope he gets his arm broken or KOd in the inital fight. That way he never steps foot in the house.
But in the back of my mind, im think, wtf? What if this fvcker actually pulls it off and wins the bitch? Not saying i think he can, cause i certainly do NOT.
But what if? A WHOLE LOT of backtracking... lol

I actually think he will win the whole thing. No matter what happened with Seth. He still has been practicing and learning. Against the other amateurs he will be up against, I think he will look like a superstar. But you never know. Will be very intresting.

You watch much MMA?
And idk who said it, but just to clear the air, the guys on TUF are NOT amateurs. 99% of the guys who make it into the house, have had professional fights before.

I think he does have a shot at going far if he wants to. Anyone willing to learn and train hard "can" do reasonably well. He obviously has the power to stand, but if thats all he relies on then we have another bitch for the BJJ guys.
From the business perspective, he will be good for cash draw but I dont like that the sport will regress if he makes a big splash in the UFC and more of the brawlers come back into the scene.
Punchers like Belfort and Barone learned to add to their game, who knows, maybe old dogs can learn new tricks... or he can go back to amateur porn =)

I still call them amatures...I can go out and get a pro fight tomorrow ...does that make me a pro... technically yes...but honestly i'd still be a hella green amature. You should put away atleast 15 fights amature before you even think of going pro IMO. Some of those cats have like 5 pro fights and 2 amature fights? Yah not a pro.

He has the intimidation factor of being a big black guy with skill. I would like to see if he can actually fight his way through. Would be interesting at lease that is for sure and yes It will help with the viewers since I am sure there will be many who either want to see him succeed or fail.

they will give him a bunch more cans to fight then at the end have him fight lesnar, mock my words just watch

Terms of the contracts are ridiculous, Kimbo is going for exposure for sure, they say i will make 5000$ per fight he wins, he even refused to go for strikeforce to accept this deal???????.
The part that i dont understand is that he is trained by MMA legend Bas Rutten, i mean Bas should really teach him the ground game, Kimbo seems to be a bit hard to take down, but when he is on is back he is screwed.
If he does win the Tuf season i cant wait to see him fight Lesner, what a beating.

well, you are required to have at least 1 pro fight to apply for TUF, so they're not amatuers. Kimbo will have a lot of pressure on him to prove he is not the one-hit wonder who wins over has-beens. Maybe he wins his fight to get into the house, but I don't see him going any further.
On the other hand, not to sound racist, but that will be a lot of testosterone with 3 big angry black fighters (rashad and rampage included)! lol will be lot's of shinanigans.

Bas doesnt train him anymore. Hasnt for a while. But its regardless anyway, you cannot learn grappling in a matter of months or even years if you have NO prior experience. He will be exposed soon... Again...
Also just an F.Y.I. for everyone interested, Kimbo DID in fact make it into the house.

Thanks for the spoil!
Anyways, why do you say 15 is too many? I do think a big problem with the recent pro debuts is a lack of experience in the AM circuit...and it shows.
I just went to the gladiator challenge on sunday, and it's basically a street brawl for the most part. That's not a sport. If people spend more time in the am ranks, they will learn to better develop skills and experience to actually fight MMA when they step onto the scene.

There are also 4 former NFL Players. He fits the bill as being big, strong, and marginally talented. I am interested to see what happens. I personally think he has no chance against anyone with a ground game or anyone with strong stand-up for that matter but I am curious to see him interact in the house.

lol sorry for the spoil.
Dont get me wrong, there are MANY people who could benefit from more fights before turning pro, but for the most part, most guys dont fight more than 4 times a year.
And when i said this isnt boxing, what i ment was its not like we are developing just one skill.
For boxers, they only have to perfect one art. Whereas MMArtists have to work on many aspects of their games which require MANY more years of training.

Whos the guy that called me out? Saying you cannot be a BB in TKD till youre 16? I nearly fell out of my chair when that happened.

don't hate War. TKD is an efficient killing system taught only in suurban strip malls for an outrageous price!

hmmm Kimbo....i just hope they dont stack his weight class with a bunch of meatballs in the house..i want to see him and all his hype continually get beat down.....Kimbo's biggest draw for REAL admirers of the sport, is to watch him get THE SHIZNIT KICKED OUT OF HIM......while i WILL say he has NICE hands for a backyard guy, ( he actually attempts to throw jabs and straight punches)...all those internet fights were shameful....he was fighting guys who had no business fighting anything other than their shadow...except for when he fought Sean Gannon, and we saw his lungs and skill hit a brick wall...........if kimbo wins the show, i'll....i'll....i'll....well, i'll just complain, bitch, and moan as usual.....

After what has been going on recently I bet he wins the show and then beats Lesnar. Did you guys see that AA was KO'd by Brett Rogers? The same guy that everyone loves to point out "was destroying" Fedor. WTF? Not to mention Randleman got beat by Whitehead. I realize that Randleman is done but he should have enough in the gas tank to beat a D level fighter that was a piss poor Division III wrestler. What is happening!

TO late I just read this!
"Sources close to the cast members have exclusively told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) at least four former NFL players have been selected to compete on "The Ultimate Fighter 10," a heavyweights-only season of the UFC's reality series that debuts Sept. 16 on Spike TV.
The list includes Marcus Jones, Matt Mitrione, Brendan Schaub and Wes Shivers"
TUF 10 is sounding like a lets get Kimbo a six figure contact season! are they even following the fight your way on to the show format like they have in the past few seasons?
No wonder her is turning down other networks for a chance to be on TUF10. He can get 5k a fight live for free and get training from a former champion!
And by the looks of it.
You think he will end up fighting someone with lots of experience if they have some football players to go up against.

kimbo has what would help many aspiring fighter become great. Money. With that he is able to train full time, have strength and conditioning coaches, nutritionists, and his pick of trainers/ coaches. He has many of the tools other more well rounded fighters lack. This being said, i hope someoine takes him down, and exposes him for what he is; a puncher without cardio or any other game than rudimentary boxing.
I hate Kimbo. I hate people that like Kimbo. I hate when people ask me about Kimbo and tell me how badass he is. People that like Kimbo are same loudmouths whom at fights yell --"punch him in the face!".
This being said, I will still DVR the entire sason, still watch it every Wed night. I guess the joke is on me. Dana drives a Lambo or a Bently and I drive a Chevy, he knows what he is doing eveidently.

Its more a matter of circumstances than Dana actually knowing more than anyone one of us. His friends have more money than ours is what it comes down to.

nice pickup in Nelson. He definately brings some legitimacy to the show and should be the heavy favorite
