    Quick Question on Tanning oil

I have my first competition coming up in April and I was wondering what tanning oil do you use? I'm debating between Pro Tan Instant Competition Color and ASN Dream tan. I plan on tanning 30 day's out and I get kind of dark with a tan. I'm mexican/american so I'm not as dark as hispanics but I'm not white, so having a really dark tanner might be ruled out? I also saw that some European BB's have this Bronze or copper look to them and the ASN Dream tan say's that it comes in brown-bronze and red-bronze. Should I stay away from this then? I've heard that American Judges don't like that look, so I want to get that dark yet shinny look out to them. Any help would be nice

    Thanks,

Pro tan is a pain in the a$$ but works very well. Dream tan has a new formula which looks very nice on stage and does not need to be applied 6-8 coats 3 days prior to the contest....

After alot of rearch I am going with Pro-tan cause you can judge how dark you want to go(the more coats the darker). Some shows have banned Dream tan because it stains everything it touches. So if you are going with Dream tan witch would be my second choice check with the promtor to make sure your allowed to use it.

Well this is a tough call. I just don't like the whole idea of 6-8 coats appilcation process but I'll go and check to see if Dream tan is banned from my comp. first, before I make a decision. It also seems that no matter what tanner you use it's going to stain everything? (correct me if I'm wrong). Thanks for all the input though.

Well again I appreciate all the comments. It seems that protan is what most people use. I'll play with both of them and see which one gives the best tan. I also think I need to do a goodwill run to find some sweats just so in case I can't get the tanner out. I also got an email back from the supervisors of the competition and they said that no tanner's are banned unless it has glitter and I don't plan on using that, but they did say that if it's messy and ruins some things on the theatre then I would be billed for it, so for right now I'm going to use Protan for the first competition and Dream Tan for the second (if I plan on doing a second anytime soon). Again thanks for the comments.

It fades a little, thats what your meant to do shower off the excess and repeat until you get desired colour, its a pain in the ass but you can gauge how your colour is developing over a few days as opposed to an instant tan which is applied back stage and if you dont do it right you screwed, i would go with protan everytime.

If you get the darker dream tan you don't even need a tan before you apply it. My mate was white on contest day. Slapped on his dream tan and was almost black!
Check you're fed allows dream tan. Some have banned it because of how much mess it makes.
I have only used pro tan. I had on 8 coats and could have done with being darker. It's a pain in the arse getting tanned up 8 times, and you have to walk around for a week looking like you got a seriously bad fake tan. Dream tan comes off alot easier. ( I should know, my mate sat next to me still with dream tan on and runied my jacket!)
