Scars
Hay guys... Okay I've been training at least 4 years and I'm thinking about competing next year.My question is does scars matter when you compete.I have some serious scars on my legs from when I was little. It runs al te way from my hip to my knee and on my calves. Someone once told me I won't be able to compete because of them. Any thoughts are welcome

A friend of mine has scarring on his stomach due to operations and once he was tanned up, it was unnoticeable. I wouldn't of thought that judges would mark you down for scarring? I know people that compete with a lot of tattoos. Once you get that really dark tan on, they're practically invisible.
This is just what I have seen, hopefully other members will have other feedback. I hope that you do compete, best of luck!!

Thanks for the input.I went to the dermatologist and he gave me stuff to put on but he says it will take time but it will become less noticable with time.Hopefully a good tan will also help.

Yeah you should be fine. Like mentioned above there like tattoos. If you put on a dark tan, you'll be fine.. I got beat by a guy whose entire arms and back were covered by tattoos. I don't think you have to worry about scars. When are you planning to compete?

Im not sure how well it works, but I know when my girlfriend was pregnant she applied a fvckton of Bio-Oil and moisturizer, and now she has very feint scars. I have been told by my doctor that my stretch marks would be noticeably reduced by the use of bio-oil, but stretchmarks and scarring are different though. Just a thought if you havent tried it and are looking for some other alternatives.

Do not let that hold you back at all. Any judge worth a damn should be able to look past scars and see the symetry and condition of the unafected tissues and judge you accordingly. Tattoos are no longer a taboo, and they are voluntary, scars are something that you probably did not choose and for a judge to not look past them would be very sad particurly in an amateur competition.
We had a guy who was amputated below the knees on both legs compete in this years Maryland, so scars can certainly be overcome.
By the way I had the honor of judging at a wounded warrior competition earlier this year, and hope to be invited as a judge again next year.
