Ice cold water in the morning
I read a post over on fitnessgeared, something like "tip from the fitness pros on sheding fat" or something, and it basically said consume a glass of ice coled water first thing in the morning, it'll raise your core tmepo and therefore rev up your metabolism, and also don't eat anything for 30 min after that. You can do it at other times of day too, but no food for 30 minutes.
1. Do you agree?
2. Why shouldn't you eat for 30 min after that?
3. Will an ice cold whey shake in water do the same thing?

I've heard of submerging the body in cold water to shock testostorne production, but not drinking it.

1/well the body has to heat everything you consume to body temperature so drinking cold water forces the body to burn kcal. The definition of a kcal is the energy required to raise the temperature of 1 kilogram of water by 1°C. Drinking one liter of ice cold water would burn 37 kcal. One gallon would be 140kcal.
2/No food for 30 minutes so the body has to increase the temperature by itself I assume.
3/a ice cold whey shake would do the same.
But Im not sure the guy only means this effect. In that case its very small and not realy worth mentioning.

Yeah, ice water is known to raise metabolism, simply because your body has to burn extra cals to get your temp back up to 98.6. It is very small, but combined with 10 other similar things throughout the day, it would help.

I add read something similar but that it burned only 17 calories, still you need plenty of water so why not drink up in the morning.
