Yes cottage cheese is a good choice, I believe it has the highest amount of Glutamine per serving compared to any other protein source....

natty pb and cottage cheese and tuna are good. the protein in cottage cheese is casein protein and is absorbed slower than whey. milk is sugary, not the best at night.

Cottage cheese contains a lot of casein, which takes upwards of 7 hours to digest. Or you could just opt for a casein shake.

i think most of the sugar in milk is lactose which is processed slower than most complex carbs. probably wouldnt recommend it on a super-strict cutting diet though. i usually have milk and tuna before bed.

30g casein protein and tablespoon or so of PB...mmmmmmmmmmmm goodnight.

lol, that casein and pb sounds good. I tried the block cheese. Seems god so far. ate it with a glass of splenda sweetened K-K-Kool-aid. does this sound ok? opened a a cup of cottage cheese and didn't look too thrilling. maybe it was rotten?

But I will admit I can down it with some yogurt. Casein protein and PB is just much eaiser to deal with for me...and taste better

1cup water, 4-6ice cubes, 1cup egg beaters, 1/2cup f/f Cott cheese, 1-2tbsn jello mix. P/C/F (40/10/0) calories approx 200-250.
When bulking add 1tbsn ANPB and 1cup oats. P/C/F (55/70/10) calories approx 600.
Also depends on your diet for the rest of the day, goals, current BF etc etc..
Beats the hell out of a powdered shake.Last edited by IBdmfkr; 11-13-2006 at 10:33 AM.

I dont eat a specific meal before I go to bed. Everything throughout the day is broken down into what I need. The last meal 90% of the time usually is fish and rarely carbs in the last meal.
Then I sleep for 6-8 hours. Half way through the sleep I wake up and drink a shake with:
Casein
Casseinates
Egg protein
Milk protein
Egg white protein
1tbs flax
Then back to bed for another 3-4 hours and then get up and start all over again.

dudes!! i finally figured out why i can't cut like i want to. because i start my day at 3:30 in the morning to start work. i drink a shake with 1 scoop why isolate and half a scoop micellar. i eat this on the way to work with a egg and potato breakfast taco on a flour tortilla. the rest of the day is right on until bedtime. my day is so packed, by the time i get to eat dinner, which is usually chicken breast and some tobasco sauce, it's already 8p.m. And i go to bed by 8:30!!! is this too much food right before bed? should i eat my last "meal" like at 6, then my bedtime micellar and block cheese at 8? thanks bros........

Hi guys
Whats the benefit of having a slow digesting protein before bed?
Is it because your body has a constant supply of amino acids throughout the night or is there any other benefits?
Thanks

Put in less liquid/ice, and do not blend it as long.
Throw in thick things, like PB for example.
An example maybe.... whole milk, whey protein, banana/berries, and some PB or Flaxseed Oil....blend short where you can see that its thick...and..yum yum yum
