    Protein and Working Out

I'm currently trying to lose weight (5,9 200lbs, 20%BF) and my trainer says not to have protein powder after a workout right now. He says we can overload on protein after I lose the weight and really start trying to build muscle, does that sound right?

Also, should I have protein powder after running?

Yes it does sound good... Listen to Your trainer for now. When You get down to 12% and You'll want to build up come back here and read some Bulking diet stickies.
    Good luck!

When I try to lose weight or "cut" I still have a PWO shake regardless. If you're doing weight then you body is still craving for some protein. Losing weight does not mean being catabolic has to be inclusive

dude id want to loose body fat not muscle mass....

drink your protein if your lifting weights......

but cardio your ass off and make sure not to go over your target heart rate so you dont burn up muscle....

no, you can surely fit the powder into your 'daily macros' but I would do BCAA's and a carb source (high or low GI) and 30min later (PPWO) a pro/carb meal.

After you 'cut,' sure, you'll up the protein but your overall macros will be higher thus your cals/protein/fat/carbs will all be increased.

Check out the harris benedict formula.
