    slow-digesting protein source b4 bed?

i used to mix a scoop of my whey protein into some skim milk in order to slow down the digestion of the whey, but now that i'm cutting up, those extra carbs from the lactose in the milk have to go. so, looking for another protein source to slow down the whey?

i'm looking for something i can get in powder form and mix into the whey with water. was thinking of just getting casein protein powder, but not sure if the powder form digests as slowly as the kind in milk itself? anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated, other than whole food sources. can't do it for my pre-bed meal. long story, but just trust me, has to be a powder. soy, casein, egg, whatever, i don't care, just powder form of something. thanks.

thanks tai, but you must've looked over the part that i'm looking for powder sources of protein, not solids. i don't have the time to take in a solid meal when i get home at night unless i wanna deprive myself of sleep. i think sleep is a bit more important than taking a solid meal over a powder, at least for this one meal. i need something i can just drink down quick and go to bed. i'm a slow eater, what can i say?

nope, its just i do not advocate shakes at all.. food is so much more effective that unless ur waking up in the middle of the night to piss and have a shake.. i would never ever drink my meal.

i know that's the hype, but is there any actual studies indicating this? i mean don't get me wrong, i don't like liquid meals either. but with all that i have going on in my life, i don't have an option sometimes regretfully.

i really would like to see some hard evidence indicating that powder protein sources are less beneficial than whole food sources though. if you have any reputable studies off the net in regards to it, if you could either pm them to me or put them up on here, i'd greatly appreciate it tai. not saying i don't believe it at all, it's just with how many rumors go around this industry i always like to see hard facts from studies to back up theories.

Eating real food is going to burn some extra calories as opposed to drinking a predigested powder.

I don't have any studies, but I think that a fish is probably better for you than a powder that is manufactured at the lowest cost and sold at the highest possible price.
