For the average male to build muscle he should be consuming around 1g to 2g of protein along with carbs and fat depending on how much calories he needs to gain weight. Now I know that we should use different sources for protein in our daily diet like lean meat,eggs and fish etc. but what if you only ate cottage cheese for all your meals,and I am just using this as an example,would you still be able to make gains. Does it not really matter what you eat as long as their is enough protein in your body at the end of the day ?
