Question on everyone not eating enough
Just a question, dont flame to hard. It seems everyone who posts their diets are not eating enough. More like 1000 or more cal under maintenance levels. With this I would think that everyone would have extremely low body fat, which is almost never the case. Is this because the food sources are not the best? Or does the body adjust so that the 2500 cal/day becomes maintenece level instead of the 3300 cal/day that is truely needed?>

Yes i understand that when bulking and cutting we have different needs. But i see numerous posts weekly about a guy whos 6foot2 and 240lbs and wanting to loose body fat. when he posts his diet it works out to say 2200 cal which would be way below his bmr. Shouldnt this cause him to be lean considering he is burning more cals then consuming daily?

I think i know what your saying. I believe when the body gets that little calories it enter starvation mode and as opposite effects as to losing bf/gaining lean mass, etc....

you have to also take into consideration if that ame 6'2 240 lbs person has only been eating 2700 calories, then 2200 is in fact an appropriate measurement, even tho it may be lower than his calculated BMR. you do not want to shock the body you really need to +/- from the caloric range you are currrently eating and what your body is accustomed to.

.......and what he doesnt usually tell you is that he is drinking another 6000 cals two to three night a week with hot wings and then has three cheat meals of hot wing and nachos to wash down that beer with.........and then wonders why they arent dropping weight ..........because they follow there diet when it convient for them.....

the worst thing by far is to bulk and cheat by drinking/overeating with the beer munchies. made this mistake and im now cutting for it when i could have been discplined in the first place!

OP, it seems like people post their new crash diet and not what they have been eating. Then they have to cheat because they aren't eating enough. Fail.
It's been this way for a long time.Last edited by FallenWyvern; 04-28-2009 at 08:06 AM.

As I understand it, if you are constantly eating far below maintainance, you metabolism will slow to a screatching halt to keep you from wasting away. You will store all of the food you eat as fat. You will be tired all the time, but not loose weight. You will get skinny fat and weak.
