    Is it bad to drink too much water?

    How much water should you drink in a day? I drink water often and I got a physical job and I work out at least once a day.

    I advise people to drink 1-1.5 oz of water a day per lb of bodywieght. To much water can lower your sodium levels to dangerous levels and in some cases has even led to death. But you're talking about a LOT of water

    This. I go as high as 3.5 gallons on game day. No amount within reason will do anything but help.

    I think the discomfort of drinking too much water would come long before any detrimental effects..

    Agree i drink about 2 gallons a day maybe even more on some days.

    1-2 gallons per day here only bad thing is going to the bathroom every 15 minutes and waking up throughout the night to go again

    my doc asks me if I wake up to pee at night, or suffer frequent urination (a frequent complaint amongst guys my age). I always say yes, but i drink a lot of water. He is probably thinking 4 or 5 glasses a day. He's right, but my glass is a one litre beer stein i picked up at the octoberfest over in munchen. Then add in 1 litre of coffee (sometimes 2).

    So he says we need to do a DRE to see why, maybe your prostate is enlarged. (Stay out of this, DSM). After digging around in there for a few weeks, he's like, hmmmph!? everything looks fine there.

    So then, I repeat myself and tell him I drink alot of water.

    Next time, I'll just say NO!

    Thanks for the replies.
    Yeah people that works out and/or have a physical job and also drink coffee or take like creatine should drink a lot of water. I was just worried or like thought if it's bad to drink too much.

    Depends. Off days I consume a gallon. On days 1.5 or more. On anabolic support 2. And yes it can be detrimental to your health if you drink water excessively via water intoxication. Too much for a good thing isn't always a good thing.

    I hear that. I was recently in NYC and finding a bathroom on the streets there is a pain in the ass, especially at night...and when you do find one, theres a line. Ontop of that, I drink tons of water so like you I have to go like every 20 minutes or so.
