Confused about weight of food?
When ppl say 6oz chicken breast etc. Is that before it's cooked? Ive just cooked 24oz of chicken breast (cut up) and now its like half that...

Web sites like fitday.com, livestrong.com etc. typically assume raw weight. Obviously, proteins lose some weight after being cooked. Unless you're cooking everything to order (which i'm sure nobody is), it becomes very difficult to weigh raw and then cook, simply because we're cooking in bulk.
I just weigh my foods cooked and tack on an extra oz. here and there. If I want 4oz (raw weight) of chicken breast, I weigh out 5oz cooked. It's not scientific and definitely throws my macros off a bit, but I need sanity in my life too. At the end of the day, an extra oz. here and there, or even if you're under by a couple of oz. is not going to make or break anybody's diet. Just get as close as you can and carry on with your life.
