    PWO Question

As a PWO I have been drinking Amino 5000 with 5g L-Glutamine, then drinking a 40 - 60g protein shake. THE L-Glutamine said to drink it immediately after my workout. But reading the cutting diet, it said not to drink L-Glutamine with your protein shake.

Here is my issue. I can change to taking 5g of L-Glutamine pre-workout as I always do at least 30 minutes of cardio, but when should I take the second daily dosageof the L-Glutamine? I workout late at night nd routinely do not get back home until 11:30 at night, so it doesn't leave a lot of options. I know I have to take in protein before bed, so that is why I drink the protein shake as soon as I get home from the gym. Is the Amino 5000 and protein shake a sufficient PWO diet? Should I take the other 5g of L-Glutamine in the morning? Do I need to add another supplement to my PWO?

you still need carbs in your PWO shake unless you're running a keto diet. The reason for the cutting thread saying not to take glutamine in your PWO shake is you're body is only going to absorb so much glutamine, which is the most prevalant amino acid found in skeletal muscle. Some argue that it can't hurt to add glutamine, IMO its not a positive or negative its kinda redundant. You're already getting plenty of glutamine in 40-60g of protien. If anything drink the glutamine and other BCAA's durring your workout. But like i said unless you're cutting on a keto diet then you need carbs post workout.

So instead of just drinking water during my workouts, make the BCAA/L-Glut mix and drink that?

Same here, I drink BCAA, Glutamine during work out. I too work out late some days. I Finish maybe 9:30 10:00pm. I bring my protein powder to the gym. Small container that has maybe 3-4 servings? I hate the fact I'm driving home on an empty stomach after a work out. Over board? maybe, its what I have gotten used to, that's all.

I remember CBino's post. It was dealing with the idea that BCAA's somehow interfered with protein absorption, or something along those lines, I can't quite remember. That's probably a very crude (or even inaccurate) description of it.

In any event, I think it is splitting hairs and wouldn't put much merit into it - that's not to dismiss CBino's post at all. Just my .02

It's funny that most protein powders contain both bcaas and glutamine and there both in question? Oh well , thanks G!
