Question Can you help explain "ectomorph, endomorph, mesomorph" to me please?

I've managed to google and find basic description of each, but after reading stuff like:

Ectomorph = skinny guy that struggles to gain weight/size
Mesomorph = someone who is naturally big and muscular without ever having done any exericise, they say these are the lucky ones in life, and its great to be mesomorph if your a bodybuilder
Endomorph = someone who gains fat easily

I thought well does the ectomorph just have trouble gaining fat? or muscle as well?

And does the mesomorph gain fat as easy as muscle?

And does endormorph gain muscle as easy as fat?

    Thanks in advance.

somatotype's were coined by sheldon in the 40's

he purposed that all body types fall within these guidelines

see the thing is that you can be a mixture of two different body types, you are not restricted to a particular subcategories as a result of the majority of your visible body characteristics or anything of the such

It can be hard to say indefinitely which bodytype a certain person is
This is especially true for bodybuilders that may be a natural ecto but from heavy androgen use can appear like they are a mesmo

So yes I do believe we can change our somatotypes

In a natural athlete it can be beneficial to categorically place an invidual in a certain group as training certain styles can be more suited to there genetic makeup

    hope this makes sense

I tihnk also, directly answering your questions, that the diet is what dictates what people put on. This is why skinny people can put on muscle and fat. This is why mesomorphs can pack on the fat with carbs and lack of exercise. This is why ecto can put on muscle through heavy training and low carbs.
