    Protein Bars

Hey guys, I know the extremely dark cloud over the protein bars and how they are basically protein packed candy bars... But I was recommended Quest protein bars by a number of body builders and wanted to get some feedback from the diet forums here. Be as critical as you like, I won't take offense and values your input.

    Here are the nutrition facts:

    Carlories 230
    Cal from fat 110

    Total Fat 12g (18%)
    Sat Fat 1g (5%)
    Trans Fat 0g
    Cholesterol <5mg (2%)
    Sodium 350mg (15%)
    Potassium 190mg (5%)
    Total Carbs 19g (6%)
    Dietary Fiber 15g (60%)
    Sugars 2g
    Protein 20g

This is the Vaniall Almond Crunch flavor.

Protein bars brought in as store are made to taste good. You can find alot of protein bar idea, and just from using protein shake, egg white, oatmeal, natty peanut butter, and so on. Mine always taste ok but in the end better for ya.

15g of fiber - you sure? That's alot!!!

You posted the macros, but how about the ingredients? How much crap is in there that you can't even pernounce? See where I'm headed?

No junk fillers in them GB. There pretty good and I havent seen any lack in progress with them.

There supposed to be coming out with 3 new flavors very soon but Im not expecting them to be as good towards nutrition since one will be with chocolate and the w others fruit.

Read baseline's recipe on homemade protein bar, that is what you want. A protein bar has 3 components: 49% of the ingredients are identical to that in a chocolate bar, 49% are manufactured ingredients that the average person without a chem degree has to research to understand what it is, and 2% is the same for every bar, regardless of name brand: X Nut, Y Nut Butter, and Z Whey combination.

Even if this was magical christmas land and you could take that exact same bar you posted and give it 100 g of protein without changing the rest of the macros including calories (which would be impossible), I still wouldn't eat it.

No, you have to get them online. I do believe they're still sending out a couple of free samples on their site still though

They only sell directly from the company online at the moment, still small time but seem to be growing fast. They do provide freebies of each of there flavors (with free shipping too) but I wouldnt suggest them. They have so many thousands submitting for the freebies that it may take months before ya receive. I went thru a few purchased boxes of 12 before my 2 samples ever showed up.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I will definitely be trying out baseline's recipe, thanks Windex!

Spent a bit of time around the recipes over here in diet and I am stoked to try my own hand in making protein bars and pudding. Although I think the Questbars are definitely good to have on hand for emergency/last minute. Thanks again guys!
