    High Protein/Low Carb

    Hi,
I have been on a high protein low carb diet and lost 50lbs in 5 mo.
My protein intake is about 220gr, carbs between 30-50gr, fat 30-50gr as well.
I am 44 years, 6'5" and weigh 22lbs, I work heavy weights 4-5 times a week and in the last 9 months I have not gained an ounce of lean body mass 1cup uncooked oatmeal
    1/2 2% milk
    1 scoop protein shake

    6 eggs with 3 yolks
    Mixed in some veggies
    1/2 cup 1% cottage cheese

    6-8 oz chicken breast
Raw veggies for salad 1/2cup 1% cottage cheese for dressing

    More raw veggies for snacks
Typically: broccoli, bell peppers, baby tomatoe, celery
Protein shake on work out days

    6-8 oz lean pork
    or sirloin ground beef
    or fish- salmon
Raw veggie salad with 1/2cup 1% cartage cheese

    Raw veggies for snacks

    1/2 oatmeal with 2% milk
or cottage cheese out of the tub
    or 1 scoop protein shake

Supplements: omega 3 and 6 and multi vitamins

Question: I just started my first test-e only cycle. What should I change to help bulk up, cutting is secondary.

    Thank you

First if all well done on losing that much weight what a feat!

I'm interested to know what your bf % is?

You say cutting is secondary after such a weight loss?

Can you add the macros to your diet please use myfitnesspal app to help its a good app.

    joachim welcome man!

first off 220g protein i would not consider "high"

secondly u missed a number in ur body weight. i doubt u weigh 22lbs LOL

3rd whats ur bf%?? dont know? find out (google BOD POD or post a pic)

    4. depending on ur LBM (lean body mass) u may or may not be eating enuff calories. this will explain the fact that ur not gaining LBM. typically one does not gain LBM anyways (or at least not a significant amount) on a cut.

    read these stickies:

    Thanks for the quick response.

My weight is 220lbs at 17% body fat.
I add my protein intake at 1 gram per body weight pound. I'm at the point where I do not want to lose anymore scale weight, rather lose fat and gain lean mass without dropping under the 220lb mark. As I'm losing weight I see how skinny I'm getting and I don't like it. Most people that know me wonder what sickness I have instead of how healthy I'm getting, lol! So, in a perfect world I'll lose fat and gain lean, but I might have to do one, than the other. Right now, I'm bulking with test-e for 12 weeks. The way I figure is the newly gained lean in a few months time will help burn more fat, more quickly.

I have been using Myfitnesspal for nearly a year and I love it. This has been the most helpful thing that has helped me lose consistent fat.

I am reading the stickies, thank you. To clarify, I don't want to just "bulk" scale weight, but specifically gain lean muscle mass.

OP, if we were to determine whether 220gr of protein for a 220lbs guy who is on roids and a low carb diet is high, the only correct answer would be ''no.''

You can easily add another 50gr of anabolic protein to your current diet, as you would only benefit from it in terms of burning fat and building lean mass.

Stay away from milk and milk products while trying to increase your daily protein intake since lactose is a not at all a good friend of yours while trying to gain lean mass and keep fat at bay at the same time.

I can cut the milk. Bummer for the oats, I love them and helps digestion.
Does that go the same for cottage cheese? Cuz that will change half my diet.
    No problem upping the protein.

    Hey SteM!

I started a new company that concentrates on business development about a year ago, and it has taken all of my personal time.

Add a few injuries to it, and it becomes quite obvious why I haven't been around.

I have answered all of PM's in the meantime though...

Well, I am back and it is indeed good to see y'all again

My fitness pal does not compensate for burned calories during exercise? If your total calorie intake is say 1550 to lose two pounds a week and you do 11/2 of weights and 30 min on elliptical you've just spent around 800-900 cal leaving your net cal intake at 6-700? Not good.
I use livestrong app it allows you to do this easily

you are over complicating this situation. base ur cals on (maintenance +- 350-500cals -depending on cut or bulk) and forget about cals burned during weights and cardio.

    maintenance (LBM x 15)

TK...question. I had been said to take in 1/3 of protein from dairy product, that was for dropping weight. You say to eliminate dairy...is that because of increasing lean mass?

    405...I can only eat oats uncooked with milk, I love it...cook it and take the milk away, I hate it. ;}

    Thanks for your help

sounds like its time for Joachim to become a "big boy" and get used to doing things he does not "like" for the sake of his commitment and dedication to achieving his goals. do u think i enjoy getting up at 0430 and doing 60mins worth of cardio? or not eatin 24hrs every other day? NO.. i dont.

do u think ur gonna enjoy everything u have to do in this lifestyle ur trying to take on?? NO ur not.

also u can look into other carb sources but like i said eventually u will run out of things to avoid and be left with nothing other than acceptance or being fat!

    the choice is urs

    What the %#???
    4:30am?
    60min cardio?
    Not eat'n every other day?
    What happened to happiness?

Seriously, what's with the NOT eating part?

My problem is gaining lean weight, I don't know why, but it seems hard for me. Workn out I get definition, veins popping out, increase in strength, burn fat, but no lean mass gains. Sure, I lost 50 lbs, but I bet 1/4 - 1/3 of that was lean muscle. I know I'm doing something wrong and I appreciate your guy's help and experience.
I've only added test-e, (just started last week) 1cc 2x a week. TJ suggested no dairy and up anabolic protein by 50g. Carbs good?
I usually work out 5 times a week, but I read the forum to go every other day and work the major muscle group 1 time a week on test-e.
Hey, I'll even get up at 4:29am if I have too!

I'm going to be backsliding for the entire week! I'll stick to the meats as much as I can.

Wish all you a Merry Christmas and happy feasting! ?
