    Yes.

From a health/longevity standpoint, there are better, more natural options. From a carb/bodybuilding standpoint, it's as good as any other source.

okay its just with my work at the moment putting a chicken breast into 2 wholewheat bagels is far easyer than brining rice or potato etc and also is a nice change, im guessing an average sized bagel is around 40g carbs right ?

Really??? What about all this oats, sweet potato, and brown rice are the ONLY 3 carb choices? When did wheat bread and bagels become acceptable? Just curious as I've always been told different.

I'm not sure what you consider 'average'. In my experience, bagels are pretty calorie-dense. If you're talking one of those bagels from the supermarket bins or something similar, I'd venture to guess somewhere in the neighborhood of 50-60g. I could be wrong though.

That's the great thing about this sport; new research becomes available, disproves previous widely accepted 'gospel', and we have a whole new debate!!

As I said earlier - there are 'healthier' choices. Oats, sweet potato etc. will generally have more vitamins, minerals, and fiber than a bagel. But strictly in terms of a carb source for the purpose of bodybuilding? Negligible differences IMO.

Personally, I base my choices on the goal at hand. If I were 'bulking' (as the OP stated he is), I'd include bagels, pastas, bread, etc. (within reason). On a strict cut (as I'm doing now), I'd limit these choices severely. That's just my personal preference.

'Clean' eating is more of a health/longevity thing than a bodybuilding thing, IMHO. Having said that, I am not a full-blown IIFYM guy which is pretty evident from some of my other posts. I don't believe pop tarts and ice cream have any (set) place in a bodybuilding diet, but I also don't feel dieting should be boring, monotonous, or least of all, grueling and painful.
