HRT questions in regard to my age
I dont know where to start with this, and honestly there is a ton of pertinent information but here goes...
I'm 24 years old. As far as i know, waaaay too young to have problems with testosterone ? Or am I misled? Are there rare occassions/occurances? I have finally started to accept the fact I may have a problem, or an underlying problem.. and at my age, it isnt worth worrying over, so I would like to post some of my so called symptoms and see what everyone has to say prior to making an appointment. First and foremost before i get into that, who would i want to make an appointment with? Under the assumption I think i have a testosterone issue. An endocrinologist or a regular doctor or urologist or? Am i likely to be misdiagnosed or turned away due to my age? All the testing will involve is a simple blood test right? That said... ever since my late teens I have had a problem obtaining and maintaining an erection. (by the way thank god for the internet cause talking about shit like this is next to impossible otherwise) Anyhow, every man's nightmare, and ive been living it. At first I attributed it to nerves, but then after it occuring over and over, even with women ive been sleeping with for quite some time.. I started tossing around the idea I might have a problem. Of course i constantly reminded myself of how young i was, and how the hell that could be an issue. Fast forward to now, I still hear the stories of my friends going into the titty bar and getting a lapdance and having a huge hard on. Things like that giving me an erection were a pasttime since i was about 15. If i got a lap dance.. there would be nothing except for me thinking "wow this chicks hot" It usually takes depressed, and have hame to spend about 5 minutes getting myself hard enough to even have sex with my current girlfriend, which i feel terrible about for her sake, which is another story. Anyhow. the erection problems are only the start. Ever since about 2 years ago I have found myself extremely d alot less energy than i should at my age. I got buddies that go out all night and go to work on 4 hours sleep, i would literally DIE if i tried that. Not to mention my sex drive is null, my girlfriend gets depressed because she thinks its her, but she has to realize i have to practically FORCE myself to rub one out. No libido, none. Also my pops has a receding hairline, I figured I would follow in his footsteps, and I have, but over hte past couple years it has really picked up, showering I have a TON of hair in my hands when im done. Not sure if this is directly related or just a coincidence but I feel like an old man and im 24. Too young to be miserable and I would really like to put this to an end, however I would definately like to avoid being stuck on meds for the rest of my life, so im unsure what route to take, hence my posting here.
thoughts/possibilities/suggestions?
and thanks for reading through that long mess!

The lapdance thing was never my big turn on either...but I still can relate to it taking a bit to get wood....libido wasn't the biggest issue when i started hrt about 7 months ago but it definately increased to a rate I feel like I'm 16 again....not that it is a guarantee...but it is definately a good idea to test for your testosterone levels as it couldn't hurt to start there...you are thinking you could be low and a lot of times your mind will tell you so...when i read here and the internet on low T....i almost new that's what it was and sure enough I was on the low end of normal....i can't help with the hair loss...i'm holding pretty tough there..my dad had receeding and i do as well, but still a lot of hair and nuthing never comes out in hands...that's gotta be scary for you....as far as what doc to go to for these tests....you can start with a good family doc however most usually will refer to endo's or uro's...i went that route and ended up back with a good family doc that seems to know his share on hrt...knock on wood (pardon the pun)
hope this helps bro....any other questions don't hesitate to ask or if i missed something
btw, i might have been low since your age and never checked until just this year and i'm 37 so kudos on getting involve in a very important part of your life/health
take care and best of luck

thanks for the quick reply! I dont really have much of a family doc, so maybe ill look up a local endo and see what they have to say. You didnt mention, does this just start with a consult and a simple blood test? Im a pansy with needles but this has ruined my life for far too long to let that get in the way of making things right. Like most people here, i train pretty damn hard and I'm starting to wonder if I "do" have low test or some underlying issue, if it could be hindering results. As for the lap dance thing, it was just an example.. another would be... a porn flick, i could sit and watch one and sure its nice to see a hot naked chick but not so much as a stir down below. Or hell, i recall back in mid teens if I was making out with a chick, sure id pop a hard on and half the time try to hide it. Now i cant even begin too with a woman's hand down my pants 90% of the time. I definately WISH kissing would give me a hard on. On HRT dosages are supposed to bring you up to normal levels so side effects should be null right? Things such as accelerated hair loss? And as for prescriptions, how expensive do these tend to be with insurance? Not that it matters i guess, no amount of money can replace being happy and having well-being. Anyhow just testing the water so to speak, seeing if anyone has any other possibilities that come to mind or think that at my age low test is impossible. Dont wanna be disregarded or not takin seriously by a doc ya know.
thanks again!

Hey Klepp..I'm new here, so the only advice I would give you is to have everything checked out..testosterone , estrogen (if they will), thyroid, adrenals, sugar/insulin levels, etc. It could be just about anything. Your Doc or Endo will draw blood, and probably ask you if you had any injuries or illnesses in the past. At your age you shouldn't be just getting by....YOU ARE IN YOUR PRIME!! Get yourself checked out now, so you can enjoy your youth.
Good luck to you, and let us know how everything goes.

There are several guys here that are your age or younger that have been diagnosed with low T and are getting on hrt. I would have if i would have know back in the day.
Sorry, I am not hip on info about hair loss, etc. but insurance wise I've been down that road....cost is miniscule....little tiny copays is what I pay and most decent insurances are similar....so your good if you have it...
let me know if i can help further

Get some bloodwork done, and get a GP. Esp. at your age, there will be an underlying cause for loT, if you have it, and you'll want to know what it is.
