Long term acne solution while on TRT
As I posted in another thread I'm having rotator cuff surgery. During my surgical consultation my Dr said he'd give me a shot of antibiotics 4 days before the surgery so I wouldn't have the acne problem on my arms and chest when I go under the knife. The lucky part is I don't really get them on my face and I never had an acne problem before.
I think the antibiotic shot is a great solution if I decide to go on a cruise or vacation to Hawaii but what can I do long term? I believe long term use of antibiotics is harmful to the immune system correct?
I already do the twice daily showers and use acne topical but I don't see a huge difference.
Seems like I break out more with certain Test C manufactures more than others. (Don't want to name anyone but they are next to Iraq...lol)
Anyone have tips on keeping acne at bay?

I'm pretty sure useing a antibiotic long term will cause your body to come immune to it and it won't do any good.
Why not try a dermatologist, bet they would hook you up with something

Accutane topical is available in Europe, and avoids the systemic side effects of accutane oral except maybe the birth defect thing. Gonna cost u though! And it needs to be applied 2X a day for months even tho the acne goes away but many people remain acne free for a long time after a 6 month course so I think it's totally worth it. I keep hearing rumors that the topical is available in USA but I think it isn't true yet. The wheels at the FDA turn slowly or not at all. BTW it is called Isotrex overseas.

negative things about long term antibiotics. But for cruise why not.
I've taken the Island Princess from La to Hawaii and back 15 nights.
This time of year you might get rain and big surf. Still fun.
Lastly have you had a CBC panel. It measures your red blood cells.
If to many you might get red face. All you have to do is give blood.
Lastly, you might want to check and find out if you can go in the
sun with the type of anti biotic you are perscribed.

Dont know about the long term affects of antibiotics. I had terrible acne as a teenager and the Skin Specialist put me on Tettracyclin (sp ?) three times a day. I was on them for five years !!! I am almost 52 now and still kicking with no real health issues apart from a screwed Prostate but thats an age thing

God knows I am dealing with this myself. I have been on dioxcycline from a dermatoligst for several months with no real success. I have tried all the tricks on the boards like giving blood, using dawn dish soap, using nizoral shampoo on my body etc. You name it I have tried it with no success. My dr says that the body is trying to adjust to the higher test levels, just like puberty and that when it does adjust, the acne should go away.
The only thing that has worked for me is the Wal Mart knockoff of ProActive. I have seen a 30% reduction from that. I just went tanning today to see if I can dry up some more.......Wanna avoid accutaine if I can.

beneifites as well. I think this is the safe way to go.
I've read that the acne pills can cause problems. Never
taken any because of that so I can't say for sure.
GH will heal. Dry up. Make your skin heal big time.

It isn't difficult to get a tetracycline prescription, a low dosage goes a long way, and if youre worried about your immune system don't take high dosages for a long time period of time. Its cheap too. I use it for a few months off on, and if my acne picks up again start again. I would stay away from the acne medications that cut off the bodies oil secretion.
