    Got first shot today!

Went back for my followup today and my test levels were at 247 as of 2 weeks ago. Previously my test levels were at a paultry 150 back at the end of June.

Doc. prescribed 100 mg/wk. Test Cyp. and Tamoxifen for gyno. Got the first shot today. From what I've read for any real difference I should be getting around 200mg/wk. Anyone have any positive feedback regarding the 100 I'll be doing. I imagine my test levels will bound back pretty quickly, especially with the tamoxifen, but will I notice any physical changes with diet and training?

Your not going to get results like you would get from 500mg/wk., but you'll definitly see great results depending on your diet, traning and rest. I'm on about that dose weekly and I've been able to completely recomposition my body. How often are you going for bloodwork? Right now I'm on Androderm patches, 3 a day, and the last time I had my total testoterone measured it was a little over a 1000ng/dl. The first time I had it measured it was a measly 150ng/dl.
By the way,How old are you?

    I am 31 y/o

I was expecting him to prescribe 200/wk. but no dice. I opted for injections, which will be interesting. Luckily my g/f will do them for me, until I get used to it. My blood test is scheduled for 29 September. So, about 6 weeks. He told me to get the bloodtest done 3-4 days after my injections, which are going to be every Weds.

Lucky, you get to do the injections yourself,so to speak. See how everything goes for a couple of months and remember to keep good contact with your doctor. I told my doctor I'd like to see what the next "level" of therapy was and that's where I'm at now. I was underdosed at the beginning of my therapy and after some 8 months of TRT, I finally think I'm close to the right dose.

When I started TRT in 2004 doc had me on Androgel . What a pain that was. Eventually I started the injections and I do them myself. The doctor is starting you with 100mg/wk to see how much your total test increases. You may find that 100 is enough or it may take 200/wk. The main thing is to get your test up and once you're there you'll notice a difference in body composition, provided your diet and workouts are up to par. But be sure to work with the doc so he will have confidence in you and know you're not abusing. Don't forget about estrogen.

To the guys that are on TRT programs...one thing I didn't ask my doc was how long I will be on TRT. Is this a lifetime thing from here out or does it stop when the levels are back up? I should probably just call my doc and ask him, but I'm fine with an answer on here.

It's a lifetime commitment. If your testosterone levels are low, why are they low? and why wont they be normal for someone of your age? There's obviously something medically wrong going on in your body, that's why you're on TRT. My doctor calls my condition ,hypogonadism: is when the sex glands produce little or no hormones. In men, these glands (gonads) are the testes.

I thought that was the case, but wasn't 100% sure. My doc diagnosed me with hypogonadism as well. I don't know why it never crossed my mind to ask him about this in the first place...oh well.

I could think of a lot of other things that would be a hassle over time, but TRT is so easy, for the most part.

IMO....100mg is a perfect start and you should feel way better from 150 and 247 levels
when you said the tamox for gyno....you mean to prevent from getting or was your estrogen high already or does this doctor predict a rise in estrogen and one last ?....what kind of doctor are you seeing?
    good luck with your TRT

Oddly enough, he said that he would prescribe me the tamox to reduce the gyno that I have now...but the more I have thought about it over the last couple days, it doesn't make sense from the reading I've done. There is no drug out there that reduces gyno is there?

On the otherhand, I think he is prescribing it due to my perpencity towards getting gyno and controlling my estrogen levels. I've been on it for 3 days now, but am unaware if it should be affecting me one way or the other.

I am seeing an endocrinologists and thank you!

    Interesting thread for me.

I'm not sure 100mg./wk is enough to worry about gyno so I was curious about that too. Your answer makes good sense though - thanks for explaining.

Reiterating what jpkman already mentioned, everything I have seen so far says that the dose you're getting is pretty normal for TRT. It sounds like you are fortunate and have a pretty progressive endo, so that's a plus.

Good luck and keep us up to date, if you have the time.

Will do...I haven't had the ups and downs that I hear about...yet. I feel just as good today as I did the couple days after the first shot. This could be due to the Tamoxifen though. I'm really looking forward to about 6 weeks from now. I should have a pretty decent amount of the cyp. in my body at that point and I will go back for another blood test. It will be interesting to see the results. If everything goes ok and treatment is continued like it is now, I will probably start "supplementing" the dose up to about 250mg/week.

Did my first "self-injection" today. I am in disbelief, but it did not hurt at all...not even a slight "pinch" feeling. I will admit...it took me about 20 minutes to "talk" myself into it. I opted for a thigh injection, just so I could see what i was doing. I'm actually 2 days early for my second admin. I get bloodwork pulled on September 29th (Sat.) and the way I figure, if I inject on Monday it will cause my levels to be a bit lower rather than injecting on Wednesdays like I originally planned. My hopes are that the doc will up me to 200 mg/week and it will be smooth sailing from there for maintenance.

I also worked chest today and felt pretty good. I will assume that it's all physcological though...but hey, who cares! It made for a great workout!

My original injection day was every Wednesday, but I moved it back to Mondays. My endo originally wanted me to come in 3 days after my last injection, but since I moved the injection day back it will now be 6 days.

    no doubt
don't know how anyone could be afraid....its harder to take a glucosomine/chondroitin pill than to do a shot
especially if you're changing pins on the syringe after you draw from the vial
    big difference there alone

Are you going to use HCG in your TRT? I have been on TRT for 3 years now. It will take a while to get your levels where you want. You may have to play with it a year or more, especially once you add HCG into your regiment. Good luck. I feel much better.

At this point I haven't been told by my doc if I will.

Well ****. I just found out today that my doc wants me to lower my injections to 80mg's down from 100mg's. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I need to find a damn source so I can get some more cyp!!! Shitty thing is my insurance is gonna run out at the end of the month and I have to find a new doc as well. Anyone know a good endo around the Fort Collins/Cheyenne area?
