Update on HRT...
Hey bros,
I just came back from my doc again....he told me the results of the first test and he said that my total test level was 100ng thats pretty low for a guy my age or any age for that matter ...I guess he didnt test for much else the first time...today he tested for overall test and free test, prolactin, FSH, LH and TSH...My doc says he going to refer me out to an endo for the therapy itself.... I will post the results to those as soon as I get them later in the week...My question is this...When he refers me to the endo do I tell him about my past AAS use (I told my doctor he didnt care and wanted to help) also I was wondering if I should ask him to test me IGF levels and Estradiol? I know estradiol should certainly be checked I was just curious as to whether the endo will do it or not... thanks for your time

juicelee.
my two cents is NO...don't prejudice his exam....he may decide you are high risk for "abuse" (which is the lecture i got from my endo's 24 yr old female assistant...if i only live to 100 my one true regret will not be slapping her asleep)....he will treat you on your blood test.....others will/may disagree but i believe as men we are already treated differently that women for HRT ....don't give him a ready made excuse for slighting you more that the system already WILL.....and yes to estradiol ....

ok thank you very much for the input bros...also the conversation with my doctor today led me to believe that the endo will prolly prescribe the gel or patch first how may I convince him to go the route of injections?...I am an active godfather of a newborn and because I am so close to my niece I was thinking that the gel would be a bad choice already and I hear horror stories about the patch so I'm thinking either of them would be bad to begin with but do I come out and say that or would saying that immediately list me at a high risk for "ABUSE"....I was thinking that he prescribes me whatever I simply dont use it and wait for more bloodwork when I am still low he will eventually give me the injections right??...Dont get me wrong guys I just want to be normal I probably wont even supplement with more I'm just looking for a greater sense of well being, my strength to return to normal (not any type of gains just want my strength back I've noticed a big decline since I noticed symptoms of being low), erections to be normal and more frequently and increased muscle tone...I just know that the injections is the best way to treat HRT by far and injections are the best way to get what I mentioned above....any input is greatly appreciated thank you for your time

if i had to do it all over again...and especially if you have a choice of specialists...i know he is referring you to a endo but do you have to use that specific endo because of insurance? because i would let the endo know that you want injections up front and base that on the appointment...the doctors work for us
only way one should suspect abuse is if you are intending to abuse

hey bros...just an update I got the results of my second test back today...they were again 100 ng ...so my doc gave me a list of endos to call and make an appointment he says he ll let the endo decide what treatment will be best and then once he decides he ll then take over and continue with whatever the endo decided to do...I have a question tho...would you guys call around ahead of time to find out exactly what he will treat low test with?? cause I could call around see who treats with cyp then make an appointment with them and skip all the stuff that doesnt work...what do you guys think??

juice...your attitude is great...but please keep in mind that 1) the medical profession does not view male HRT in the same understanding, empathetic light that they view female HRT....i suggest you go to Web MD and take your notes from there if you wish to debate with your Dr....if you refer to this board, i would be willing to bet that his attitude is just this side of hardline and 2) endos are infamous for keeping us at the low end of normal....which if that is where you have spent your life and your energy/libido/strength/zest comes back then you have accomplished your objective....if it doesn't get you there, you may end up like some of us and supplement....and i don't mean alot...i do just 25 over my prescribed 125 per week and it seems to be ME....which is all i wanted ....

Thanks whiteowl I appreciate the info...Im going to head over to webmd right now and check out exactly what needs to be debated...I ve had a few things in mind already 1.) I've currently run into a problem with insurance issues so first I will tell him that I want the cheapest method as I will be paying out of pocket if im not mistaken this is cyp 2.) I will tell him that I believe my girlfriend to be pregnant 3.) And lastly I will tell him that I am a new godfather who spends a good deal of time with his niece and I dont want the gel to rub off onto an infant...what do you think??...but I will check out the webmd anyway thanks alot bro
