    Newbie Need help

I am 33 years old and weigh 290 lbs. My test, level was 186.I took my first test cyp injection about a week ago. My doc said to inject 400mg every three weeks. Since then, I have gain about 14 lbs on the scale. I know it can cause water retention, but is this normal? Can high estrogen cause rapid weight gain?

doubt it but large meals and lack of exercise can...

post up your diet and workout

14lbs. is a lot to blame on the medication alone...just my .02

I started working out about 6 weeks ago. I am currently playing racquetball for about an hour three days a week and lift weights about the same. I was losing a couple of pounds a week until I started the test.cyp. Since then, I have gain 14 lbs. I am on a high protein/low carb diet.

Yes estrogen could contribute to this. Get some blood work. If your estro is high maybe your doc could give you an ai.

this is pretty common when first starting TRT. your body is trying to get use to the T and your E2 is most likely high. large infrequent doses like that cause your T to spike which also spikes your E2 and can cause water retention.

when i first started i got really puffy and bloated looking. weekly shots helped and adex took care of the rest.

shots every 3 weeks are going to put your levels all over the place and it will be very hard to get dialed in.

if you're self injecting you should split the dose and do weekly shots as a minimum.

Thanks for all the info. I have an appointment with my doctor in the morning. Hopefully, I will find out exactly what is going on.

Well, I went to the doc last week. He said he has never heard of an increase of estrogen due to test.c. He gave me a prescription for Androgel and a water pill. Should I use the androgel or should I take 200mg test.cyp injection every week?

I am on the same does you are. been on test for four months now. I have been about the same weight for the last two years. I eat big protein, and as low fat as I can. My first month I had big joint issues, but they went away with the third shot. A buddy of mine gained a lot of water weight on his dose.

200 mgs every week would be the way to go. I hope I can get my doc to do the same. I am not getting anything from my dose. Every time i get my blood test done I am low as I was when I started.

any doctor that doesn't understand the connection between testosterone and estrogen, specifically estradiol (E2) shouldn't be prescribing T. this is fundemantal and should have been taught during TRT 101.

it's hard to say if 200mg/week is the right dose for you because everyone responds differently to T. some guys take 100mg/week and it puts them close to the top of the range while for others it could take 200mg/week to get the same results. it doesn't have anything to do with size or muscle mass either. i'm 5' 11" and 230lbs. and 200mg/week puts my TT at close to 2500. there are guys alot smaller than me who need 200mg/week just to be in the top of the range.

it's better to start at a lower dose like 100mg/week and work up from there based on symptoms and test results. dose increases should be made at 20mg increments and given at least 4 weeks to stabilize before the next blood draw.
