    Low Test

Doc told me I have low test levels and I'm going in a couple weeks to see him. Since I found out I feel unmotivated in going to the gym because you can't build muscle with low test. I feel like it's a waste of time. Is this true?

My Doc wouldn't even have checked my test levels unless I asked for them even though I gave him all the symptoms someone will low test would have. He thought it was blood pressure or stess related.

I've had low test for probably many years and it was never diagnosed which is why I've only gone so far with bodybuilding.

Bro I made solid Gaines in the gym for many years with low test! Make sure your diet is in check and that you are getting lots of sleep. How do you feel? Do you have low test symptoms? A lot really just has to do with how you feel.

I feel completely fatigued all day long even with 8 hours of sleep. You know that feeling when you first get out of bed and feel a little groggy? That's how I feel all day.

Western. That is low test ...lethargy, fatigue, apathy. But if your Dr spotted it and you are headed to HRT i would keep in mind that relief is a short distance away. And gains are relative. Once you get HRT you will feel like working out hard again and if your tendons and ligaments are atrophied from a lack of use then it'll suck when you get back. Stick it out.

Western, sorry to hear you're not feeling the way you should. Sounds typical about the doctor not checking your hormones. I presume he did a full panel of lab work for you on the other areas (CBC, lipid, etc) and everything else is checking out OK?

I agree with Jim about the importance of the diet and sleep thing, but I got to say that I personally went through a similar deal of not making gains at the gym. Before I went to a HRT specialist, I was stuck having to deal with this through my primary doc. I was doing great, making gains and growing, then my "T" went over the top of my doctor's range. Well, she thought the best thing to do would be to cut my medication for a few months and see if it comes back down. Well, it came down alright ... Crash and burn on my part! During that time, I worked out the same (4-to-5) times a week, and I actually went backwards with gain and size. As I've said in other posts, a lot of these docs are just about trial and error, which is all I went through with my primary and the idiot Endo that she had sent me to see.

Hang in there and let us know how you make out with everything.

Thankn you guys for the comforting replies. And I have still been hitting the gym 4 times per week, because even with low test I can move alot of weight. I just always figured it was genetics causing my slow gains (which is partly true); but it was primarily low test.

And yes, the doc ran every other blood test except to check my test levels. And even when I asked him to check them for me, I got some resistance when he said, "why do you want those checked?"

Anyways, my cholesterol came back at 197 total and only like 30 for HDL which kind of sucks, but all other tests were normal.

Well, I have 11 days until I see my urologist to discuss my results. I'll let you know. Thanks again.

Besdies...you know you would miss all the babes in spandex. I think the guy's birthday who invented spandex should be a national holiday.
