    Does your ins cover trt

    ?? Mine is getting an auth from the doc i guess due to the cost? 356$ a mo for gels, is this normal, I am worried that they wont cover it. Doc said that androgel is cheaper and we could do that but I am worried that they won't cover it at all

    Is it the AndroGel that is costing that much? If so, forget it. Even if it costs $10, scrap it. Tell the doc you want some injections instead. Insurance should cover you like any other prescription.

    Gels = SUCK.

    My insurance does not cover TRT. The Test Cyp is about $110 for a 2,000mg / 10 mL bottle. At 100mg per week, that's about 20 weeks for me.

    So, doing the quick math:

    $110/20 weeks = 5 months = $22 a month

    Even if the gels were as effective (they aren't) the cost factor makes your choice a no brainer. Oh, and remember -- it IS your choice. Not your doctors. You let him know what you want to do. If he won't do the injections then find another doc.

    MOST insurances WILL cover trt when prescribed by traditional doctors (non anti aging clinic doctors) (anti aging docs usually prescribe compounded rx's which need to be filled at compounding pharms ONLY) ...very few posts (1 that i can remember) i read saying insurance covered for clinics (blue cross blue shield) and androgel /testim are usually expensive and insurance usually covers one or the other better or at all and injections are usually covered almost free (small copays)...

    ..so in your case...if youre sticking (pardon the pun) with the gel, then have the doctor scribe whichever gel is best covered (androgel or testim) but agree with callaway vetteman...try to get the injectible

    I'm covered for office visits, blood work, and Test C. They don't cover my needles but at under $20 a hundred in bulk I'm good with that. Test is standard co-pay of $10. I had to get a waiver to get it covered but it was an easy phone call. I called them they added that script for coverage.

    if you have a lady friend that is about or children that hang onto you, you may wish to let the Dr know. In our first consultation, my Dr bypassed the gel because he was aware that my granddaughter was always around and at 3 i was always carrying her about. He was opposed to "transfer" so i did not even have to make the appeal.
