Exclamation Need some help, new guy!

Hi guys! First I wanted to say it's a pleasure to be part of the forum. I have recently been diagnosed with low testosterone , low FSH, and low low LH. The LH and FSH levels are so low they are nearly non-existent and my testosterone level total was I believe right around 230. I am a 23 year old man, these deficiencies came from an incident that occured several years ago. Since then I have suffered from many many side effects from low t and the hormone deficiency in general. My endocrinologist prescribed me cyp 200 mg/ml once every two weeks by intramuscular injection. I was wondering if anyone had any comments or thoughts on the doctors plan of action? I thank you in advance for input

I think your doctor has a good grasp on your condition . If you start to feel better with more energy than your on the right track . When doctor gets next set of blood work then he can adjust accordingly .

Pinning once every two weeks is stupid, but commonly recommend by most docs who are following 30 year old research and treatment protocols. The half life of test cyp is about 14 days. That means the first 5-6 days you're going to be feeling very good and over the next week your testosterone levels will drop and by the time you're at day 14 you'll feel like shit again. You shouldn't even need to explain this to your doc, but it looks like you'll have to do so. The dosage is probably right on the mark -- 100mg EW is a very reasonable and common place to begin TRT and see how you respond. So -- divide that same 200mg every two weeks dose into 100mg EW, OR (what I prefer) 50mg 2x EW. You'll avoid the hormonal roller coaster ride by injecting smaller doses more frequently.

Welcome to HRT. There is so much info on this forum it will take you some time to read it all. Take time a do some searching on any questions you can think of. It will help you understand any advice members give you and make sure your doc is doing his/her job, which in the end should be to make you feel better.

It may take 4-6 weeks for you to feel the full effects of the test in your system as you build to a stable, therapeutic level in your blood stream. However, TRT is often counterproductive to fertility. You would benefit from looking into running some hCG along with your testosterone in order to keep your HPTA axis working properly and the boys producing sperm.

    Welcome to the forum!

The low LH indicates that you are secondary hypogonadism. Pretty common with a lot of us that are on TRT.

The whole trick now is to get everything balanced. Since your doc gave you a script, the first balancing act will be to medicate yourself more frequently than 2 weeks. Half life is 7 to 8 days, so injecting once a week will make sense, right?

You also need to keep an eye on the other hormones, one in particular will be your estradiol. Your research will lead you to know that "T" will convert to "E", and if the levels get too high you will experience some unpleasant side effects. You're not taking a lot of "T" at this time so it might not be a huge issue, but it is something you need to be aware of and keep track of it on your regular lab work visits.

Lastly, do some research on HCG for helping on the subject of having kids while on TRT. There are lots of benefits associated with it. A lot depends on your doctor and his receptiveness to the various therapies associated with all of this.

Don't be surprised if your doc has no idea why you would want to run hCG . He/she probably won't prescribe it. The good news is, it's relatively easy to get from online sources or from an HRT clinic. The clinic would be able to help walk you through the dosing recommendations. Or, you can do your research and try it on your own.
