New to HRT, would like some opinions and answers please.
Greetings,
I have been reading the posts here for a few weeks and I REALLY appreciate all of the info contributed by the members here.
I just started HRT and I'd like some opinions with regard to my situation.
I am a 49 year old man. I am 6ft tall and over the last 2 years came down to 200Lbs from a soft 240Lbs mostly by training strenuously in Thai Boxing 3 to 4 days per week.
Last December I complained to my doctor about lack of sexual interest over the last year. The plumbing worked, but I no longer felt the absolute NEED for Sex that I had felt daily for most of my life. This was most apparent after my (all to frequent) binge drinking sessions. My Dr. ordered Blood Work and my testosterone level was really low.
(results below)
tests 8 testosterone, free and total (140103)
Testosterone serum (L) 167 ng/dl 241-827 *41
**Please note reference interval change**
Free Testosterone (direct)
{L} 3.4 pg/nl 6.8-21.5 *42
3/11/10
The doctor waited 3-4 months and tested it again and it was the same low level. He suggested HRT.
I don't fully understand how testosterone works but this data confused me to some degree. I had always had a muscular frame and was REALLY getting lean and muscular from the last years of training.
I was starting to look (for the most part) and feel like a fighter competing with men half my age. Although I didn't have the sexual passion and interest I once had, I was capable of having sex more than once daily if so inspired.
I had always thought that Testosterone was the major ingredient for this to be possible. If so, how was I getting into the best shape of my life and having daily sex with a Testosterone level that is so low? What else determines these characteristics? I'm lost on that one….
My Dr. Suggested Testim first. I liked the effect, but I was locked into wearing a t-shirt for life, trying to keep a beard off of my lady.
Androderm patches were next and OK, but I asked for the injections and he gave them to me. He let me try 100 to 200mg every one to two weeks to see what felt good. I have settled on 100mg per week for the last month and feel GREAT!
I am particularly worried about Estrogen as I had puffy, really sensitive nipples as a kid and I hold a bit more fat on my ass and upper thighs than I have anywhere else. I also still have sensitive, puffy nipples and they leak a drop of what I assume to be a bit of puss if you squeeze them hard (I keep forgetting to show my Dr. that trick). I have a Blood test next week and I have asked him to check my estrogen levels as well. I really think the binge drinking over the years is throwing this out of whack as I feel the symptoms of Low-T seriously the day after drinking. I can consume a ridiculous amount of Tequila and do so once or twice per week. I know that has to stop.
So far, I have been on Testim for 1 month, Androderm for 1 month and Test Enth for one month. All three have restored my libido to teenage levels, helped in the gym big time and made me generally feel amazing. Is this likely to change? My only complaint is that my balls are really shrinking.
With my insurance, my co-pay to Duane Reade pharmacy for the 5ml vial was 50$. That seems expensive with good insurance. Can I buy Test Enth legally, online, in bulk, with my prescription and insurance? Where is a good reputable legal source?
Thanks in advance,

OK, there's a lot of stuff in that opening thread ... Might be hindering the amount of responses.
Testosterone is a major ingredient for your sex drive. If you didn't experience any withdrawal from low "T", then that was just a bonus. If it was good then, I'd imagine it would be through the roof when your levels are increased and stabilized!
As far as that oozing thing going on in your nipple ... You need to address it ASAP. Yes, your estradiol score is very critical. I suspect it's probably elevated. I'd see if he will run a full panel from A-to-Z. Check the prolactin levels while you're at it. Also, better check the lipids and enzymes, your liver is probably taking a beating from this drinking you're doing.
Drinking at that level will destroy any chance of your body finding rhythm or balance from HRT. It sounds like you have a decent routine going in other areas, that will only be enhanced when you break your friendship with Jose Cuervo. I dumped my friendship with Capt. Morgan more than 4 years ago and never looked back. That was the start of some really good things to come.
Let us know and good luck. BTW, welcome to the forum!

Welcome and congrats on having a doctor willing to let you find your most comfortable T form.
Sounds like you are lactating a little. This is often from elevated prolactin but E2 involves itself also. You'll work through this with tests.
My husband gets very reasonably priced Testosterone cypionate from Sam's Club. If you do it with the business membership as one paying out of pocket a 10 m vial is less than $50. Hope I can say that here.
You'll need hcg to keep those testes going and this will restore any shrinkage that has occured.

Greetings,
Vetteman, Thank you for reading my novel and breaking the Ice with your answer. In retrospect that surely was too much info for one post.... oopz.... (feel free to pick any one thing to address)
Thanks to everyone else for your input as well.
(Wasn't looking for Dr. Info by the way, just a good legal source for prescription/Insurance purchases). That's not nearly as important to me as the info available here.
PPC, Thank you. Is the only advantage with the HCG Testicle size or fertility? does it actually preserve the longterm function of the systems involved in case i want to go off the Test?
Thanks,
TG

According to Doctor Crisler, HCG keeps the conversion of cholesterol into other needed hormones like pregnenolone occuring. So...yes, I think we can conclude it preserves long term function of that system
HCG acts like LH and will take on that job, but it is not LH and your tests will still show that to be low.
I have to say though that there is debate among some pretty knowledgable guys on forums about just how 'good a job' HCG does with regard to keeping conversions of other hormones going. To be on the safe side, many guys 'backfill' these other hormones like pregnenolone and DHEA as they can still lower somewhat even while using HCG.
