Wow thanks, that's really kind of you! I will do some adrenal support searching for sure. It indeed feels horrible, Its like living a whole life with a deadly disease that never kills you, only tortures you. When (if) I get better, I will certainly pay this forward - probably create a detailed site/blog about how I struggled and tried different things to get rid of my sleepiness, how I met positive people on the net that helped me more than the doctors did.

You should look into narcolepsy. It is not what most people think. I have it and until I understood how to manage it, it plagued my life.
For example, if I don't sleep before 10pm, I may not go to sleep for 3 days. That is an symptom most do not know about... Hypersomnia and hyperinsominia.

Imo Excessive daytime sleepiness is usually caused by a neurological problem, I have the same problem and i have an appointment with the neurologist on the 30th of november (im having a ct scan). you should definately see a neurologist IMO

So you are saying there are many levels of narcolepsy? After the MSLT, the neurologist sent me back to the psychiatry 'cause the test didn't indicate narcolepsy (I had the same cell type as the majority of people with narcolepsy has though).
I wonder why I haven't gotten that chance to try CT scan. Have you also done MSLT and how did your results look like?

First off doctors are idiots...lol...
Yes there are different types and levels of nacrolepsy. All have excessive daytime sleepiness. Additions are cataplexey (instant fall asleep and collapse), addition of hyperinsomnia, full body jerks and twitches (especially when trying to go to sleep), sleep paralysis, lucid dreaming, almost instant dreaming when you doze off... etc.. google it and check it out.

If he is taking in enough water, and i mean at least 2L a day, the water should be flushing his kidneys out without a worry.
I feel your pain mate, insonmia/not being able to sleep, could possible fall into 1 of the worse things a person can go through.
It's ironic what u said that u get bad memory loss, and loss of libido, i never knew insonmia affected these things. Could be why i have my days, where i just don't know where i am, and cbf how my johnson is feeling.
It truly is torture. I am a person that finds it hard to fall asleep at a reasonable hour, let alone sleep at all, it really does irritate me. Phew options though I did try and from my experiences, was amitriptyline an anti depressant.
It worked like a charm and I was getting a good nights sleep everynight, something that i had not had in a while.
Anyway time went on and the side effects really out weighed the benefit, i was waking up drowsy/groggy, dry mouth, sweating, headaches sometimes, and dont get me started on libido, it nuked the shit out of me.
1 thing i will mention i noticed in your first post, u did not try melatonin, I have taken myself off those tablets, and will try the melatonin as i have heard good things about. Will let ya know how it goes.
Anyway good luck, and hope you find the rest your seeking, would be good to know how u go.
Also keep in mind if you have a past with high intake of recreational drugs, this plays a huge role.

Some are indeed haha.
I do not suffer from cataplexy at all. The only time I experience sleep paralysis is in the morning where I can continue sleeping for hours 'cause I don't feel rested. I very often have lucid dreaming, which is something I enjoy of course - who wouldn't? . About instant dreaming, I dream when dozing off, but then instantly entering the deep sleep state (according to Sleep Cycle in my iPhone :P).
I know that patients with narcolepsy often gets Concerta, just like ADD/ADHD patients... So I feel that I don't care what diagnosis I get, all I care about is getting help .
I do not suffer from insomnia at all, I experienced it for a couple of days when trying out Modafinil.
And all the mini symptoms that I have doesn't really bother me, according to the doctors that I've spoken to, it cannot be my thyroid apparently (according to my TSH, T3 and T4 levels).
I wish you the best luck also finding a medicine that works for you .Last edited by Hypersomnia; 11-23-2010 at 09:26 AM.

Adderall XR is the best choice if you do not want Nuvigil or Provigil (modafinil).
I don't have cataplexy either.
With the excessive sleepiness, do you find that you can often lay down to take a nap only to get up 30mins or so later?
