25 years old low T need advice
Well finally after a couple years of no sex drive and feeling like crap all the time I took a friends advice and got a T level check. Long story short my test came back and my level was a 236. Doc said that was low and gave me Test E 200 mg shot and said he would do it once a month. I had the shot yesterday and cant say that i feel all that much better. How long until I should notice a difference? Im also very worried after reading other posts that I will begin to fade after 2 weeks, is this true? Just want to feel normal again. Any advice in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

The doc needs to give you a shot every week. One shot a month will have you crashing inside the 2nd week, and leaving 2.5 weeks a month with you at the same low T level, maybe even lower since you're replacing. You don't really notice much a difference for a while. There's pretty widely accepted protocol of weekly or semi weekly shots and testing every 4-6 weeks to see if you're in the 700-800 range where a doc should want you to be.

Look at the bright side your doc is on the right track giving you injections rather then cream, now u just have to convince him of the half life and stable blood levels

Yea I am worried about the crash so if I do im gonna call him for sure cause i hate that low T feeling. Yeah hes a good doc but I think our opinion of what low T is is very different he thinks under 250 is low and i think anything under 400 is low so i dont know i guess we will see

He's probably a nice guy and knows a lot about many things. Unfortunately, TRT is obviously not his specialty. 1x per month is compared to telling someone to eat or drink 1x per day. There will be a peak, then you will start to go down, down, ...
Like jpk indicated, we're getting a rash of guys lately (mostly 30 & under) that are just getting put on test after running one set of basic labs. Not saying it shouldn't be done, just saying that it would be wise for any medical team to rule out any pituitary or testicular complications first.

Like Vetteman said, it takes multiple blood tests and across many weeks even months to see what's going on. Take me for example, it took 2 effin years to find a good clinic with plenty of help from the pros here. I went through so many blood tests, it was insane. Granted I had to waste my time and good money with 3 quack endos. Each with their own opinion and take on low-T. In addition to all that wasted time and money, when I "dare" questioned their solutions (One female Endo told me it was perfectly fine to have E2 high out of range) they spoke down to me as if I was wrong.
25 is young, but not uncommon. I know of one guy who served in Desert Storm that stepped on a "toe popper" land mine and lost one of his testes. He was in his very early 20s, but pulled through. Now in my age group (35 and over), he's been on TRT since the event and was even able to have children! None the less, countless tests were needed to make sure this was right for him.
This is what it boils down to, this is from someone who's doing it. The benefits far outweigh the risks, but the room for error is minimal at best and missing doses is not an option. Also an Anti-Estrogen will be needed, Test (Enodgenous and Exogenous) will convert to Estradiol. Some people are sensitive to E2 and will have symptoms like that of a woman. Then you have to make sure you're doing your part to eat correctly. Your food bill is going to increase since your body will want more non-processed whole foods like Beef, Chicken, Pork, Seafood, Whole grains, veggies. Let's not forget a good multivitamin and plenty of water.
Don't forget to exercise and get yourself a BP monitor for home.
I just scratched the surface, trust me any doctor who tells you to spread some gel on your arm and send you on your way is doing more harm than good.
Please read, read, and read some more. Learn about the medications out on the market, learn about the risks. Try to find a doctor who is educated and knows what he's doing. Every person is not the same, our chemistry is very different which is why we all have to find what works for us by being "dialed in" with our numbers.
Keep reading, learning, and asking questions. Remember that doctors are not perfect and not the end all and be all of your health. If that were the case, they wouldn't be paying $1,000,000 a year premiums for malpractice insurance since they would be infallible.Last edited by Alloy; 10-10-2010 at 02:03 PM.

Test-E is a long acting oil based ester and takes a while to build up. Some Docs use it because it has a longer half-life which means he doesn't have to inject you as ofter. Test Cypionate in my opinion is better a option since it has a half-life of about 7 days and will hold better blood serum levels if shots are given on the same day and frequency. With Test-E, it might take a couple of weeks to feel a difference. Your mileage may vary, but Test-E might take a while. HCG on the other hand is water based and is active right from the word go. Unfortunately most doctors feel HCG should only be used for women or fertility reasons.

Just an update
Well it has now been about 20 days since I have had my injection of 200mg's of Test E. So far I have not felt any better I feel as tho I started to and now im back to feeling the same if not worse. Called my doc and he said he only will give an injection once a month and that i have to wait 3 months to see a difference, he also said its all psycological right now. Feel like shit and no sex drive as usual. Any advice?

Agreed!!! Take the advice that was given already! Also, the doc is telling you that it will take 3 months to see results??? That's a FAIL! His protocol will never bring results ... Read my keyboard lips, "Never". It will be like watching reruns of the Waltons all day and all month. It will just be one miserable experience after another. I wish we had a hall of shame for bad doctors quotes & protocols here, this doctor would make the list!

Yea exactly what I thought you all were gonna say. My biggest issue is that I am uninsured and have to pay out of pocket and he is cheap. Anyone know of any good docs to go to in VA?
