Which Test Should i Ask for?
i am seeing my doc in few days and i want to ask him to put me on TRT for three months, not sure if he'll go for my excuse but its worth a try. so my questions is which test should i request and how many mgs per week. my goal is to put on as much muscle as possible, speed up muscle recovery and reduce inflammation if thats possible!

I doubt your doctor will just roll over when you request a certain amount of test because you want to try HRT for a few months, he will check your blood vaules and prescribe you the require amount he thinks you need and thats if you need any at all.

I have Kaiser, and they are extremely conservative in this area. I told him (check the TRT section for the threads I posted) that I was suffering low libido. he checked my blood levels, and put me on a mild dose of test cyp 200mg eow. This is a fairly standard dose. I've read 300mg eow is the max allowable for TRT purposes. Most doctors worth their salt will test your blood levels before giving you an Rx for test. These are typically (not always) the doctors that your insurance will pay for. There are also online doctors that are much more generous with what they will prescribe----- for a price!

Bass, good to see you. Just to clarify, when you say you're wanting to know what type of test to request ... Are you wanting to know what type of testosterone (cyp, eth, sust, etc.), or are you wanting to know what type of blood lab tests you should run?

thanks guys, this doc is a friend of mine! so there is a great chance he'll do something. Even if the insurance doesn’t pay, I’ll pay it out of pocket.
Vetteman88, thanks! and yes that’s what i meant (cyp, eth, sust, etc.)
my reason/excuse is, long time muscle recovery after workout, sometimes a whole week! i also believe my whole body is inflamed due to heavy workouts. also feeling tired and sex drive is lower than usual, fat loss is very, very slow and muscle gain is little to nothing! my diet is still 250-300 grams of protein, 100-150 clean carbs, and about 50-75 grams fat. i take BCAAs and all but not much help there.

You could ask for cyp or eth, both are very close in ester properties, and both are very popular for TRT protocols. I've always used cyp, which is probably the top seller. Sounds like you shouldn't have any trouble getting on it, just not sure that it will be a 3 month endeavor if you get started on it.

just got back from my doc and so far so good! what i did i showed him a blood work i done independently few months ago when my test was shot (223 total and 5.1 free), and he said based on these numbers hes got no problem putting you on TRT, but he needs to do a complete blood work first to make sure i don't have problems with prostate, cancer and other health issues. so my question now is, before i do blood work, is there a quick way to lower my natural test levels prior to going to the lab? maybe foods i can eat, stay up all night, do the blood work certain time of the day, etc... i believe my latest blood work showed about 395 total and 11 free, and i like to be below that so he doesn't hesitate!

at your age and previous test level you wont need to bother with that imo....but if u must i have heard that lack of sleep and drinking will reflect a negative hormone profile slightly and of course test levels supposed to be higher first thing in the morning so if he doesnt know and u go at noon...

Okay here is my blood work results, so far everything looks better than my previous one with the exception of testosterone ! the Creatinine and eGFR have improved since my last test, but they always showed in these levels due to my heavy workouts. so based on this it looks like I'll be on TRT soon! but there is still two more tests he needs to do on Monday, prostate rectal exam and testicles, i had prostate exam before, not fun at all, but not sure about the testicles test! anyway, if all are fine then I'll be in good shape for TRT.

just got back from the doc, he said i am the healthiest patient hes got! also said that i am still in the range and have no medical condition, so there is no need for TRT at this point. he also said that he’s got no problem prescribing it for me if i wanted to, but the insurance company won't pay for it based on my blood test results, so i said that’s fine I’ll pay for it, then he started to talking about creams and that’s when i said no thanks. if i am going to do TRT i want it to be injections, and he said no way I’ll subscribe it to you. replacing my doc is not an option because he is s good family doctor and i don't want to lose him, my whole family is very happy with him. i want to try a 12 week cycle test cyp, i am relectant to do it illegally just in case i run into problems, so maybe clinics perhaps?! any suggestions?
