family doc pissed cause i asked for new updated script

went for my blood work results yesterday..everything was perfect except my test was 851..(according to fam doc this is too high for a 45yr old) ive had to give blood 13 times over the last few months per the specialist my fam doc sent me to who is an expert in test replacement to lower my hemoglobin from almost 20 to curent 14.3 and specialist told me to its ok to go to 200 on my shots every week.but he want write a script,he said he would have to give me the first shot in his office every month and would sale me loaded syringes with what ever amount i want to do at home for rest of month, guess what thats a freaking shake down on my wallet for that kind of treatment! i told my fam doc this and that i couldnt afford that and that wanted to stay with him and not go back to specialist and could he up my current script and he got pissed off like ive never seen and said he would never write one for that much unless i bring him a note from specialist...and he said if i want to stay on test i had to keep seeing specialist for 6-months! before he would take my test replacement back over! i think its a shake down between two docs who know each other and im screwed out of more of my hard earned money! sorry such a long post ...i only paid 83 bucks for my last 10ml vial of test cyp and this going to cost way more! what are your thoughts ever got screwed this way?

What I don't get is why he would get pissed? If it's a "no", then so be it. But what's his point of the emotions? Does he feel that his patients are children and he has that right? We pay their salaries, so it would be the same if a waiter, pilot, salesman, etc., started spouting off. Next time go tell him to piss up a rope if can't keep a professional demeanor about himself!

Also, it is kind of weird if he's the one referring you to this other guy, but yet he won't support that doctor's protocol. Call him out on it!

and tell the specialist about the monetary concern for you, tell him that it's really more affordable if you can get yoru doc to up the script, and if you could just have him write a note up with the recommendation for your doc. he can't argue with a signed note

heres the kicker! fam doc said i was the only one he has had to get secondary Polycythemia yet i was never tested till i got sick..leads me to believe he has never checked anyone else for it.i think hes worried that its his fault for not checking regarally and thinks i am too stupid to realize that, when specialist told me he has sent hundreds for blood letting cause until your body adjusts to shots eventually every body is gonna produce too many rbc's

Is self medicating your test cyp after obtaining it from an alternate source without a prescription an option? I won't share sources but I just finished a cycle of test cyp and didn't pay a whole lot more for a 20ml bottle than you paid for 10ml. I'll likely go on TRT at some point, probably by my late 50's. The only real reason I would want to do it through a doctor is to get the test paid for by health insurance. And I will definitely be interested in having my test levels of a male ages 18-25, not a 'normal' level for an old man.

i see that you mention the specialist saying u could go up to 200ew but dont understand why for one and also u dont mention what the current dose was that got your total test levels in the 800's???????? you dont mention how you feel on the current dose....btw, 800's is not too high, not too low, its just about right as far as numbers go so if symptoms were in check and you were doing well, imo, there should have been no talk of adjusting your test dosage....also wheres the estrogen numbers/talk...how do u feel(physically)...

    fill in the blanks

i was doing 100 a week and went up to 200 after he said it was ok,(i did my shot the day before they took blood which mght be why test was 851)..i feel great now on 200 and because i got my hemo down. he said it was my hemo/iron levels that caused me to lose my enegy etc and time ive been on 100 a week and to up it cause i told him my sex drive was not what it used too be when i first start taking test..i have been on shots for 13 months now and he said i needed to go up on dosage.as for my estrogen levels it has never been checked,i have not had a problems with gyno etc..i admit though i used to do 200 along with liquidex which drove my sex drive through the roof for a while on my own in the begining....doc said that i would not have to worry about any sides at 200. also note that i have been able to stop taking med for cholesterol since being on test,(cholesterol 156 (<200 mg/dl) triglyceride 101 (<150 mg/dl) hdl 50(40-59)...im 6'1 200 lbs 45yrs

Sounds like doctors and thier attitudes to me, believe me they do not feel that you are worthy to question their motives or actions. If they seem nice and treat you with respect 90% of the time this is bedside manner and nothing more, believe me very few feel that you are an equal.

rebel - I (and many other here) would definitely recommend getting your Estradiol (E2) level checked, and I definitely don't agree with the Dr. that you don't have to worry about sides at 200 mg/week. You might be OK, but you might not be (everyone's different), and one thing that can easily happen if you increase your dose is the extra T being converted to Estrogen. Without it being checked, you really won't know. Would be nice to have known what is was on 100mg/week as well so you could see what the increase to 200 would do...

Awesome news on being able to drop the cholesterol meds!

this is how i got my rbc's down, you must have a doc script to do so(,doc told them to lower me to a 15 hemo),i did every week for 8 weeks before i could spread donations out, follow this link ,it tells all about it..good thing is the blood connection does this for free. http://thebloodconnection.org/produc...ic-phlebotomy/ also about that test, yes i would like to know but doc says i have no signs or symptons to warrant it..feel great on 200 it has really made a diffence im sure all the blood i give also had a lot to do with it too.i still go every wensday to have hemo checked to make sure its staying stable, doc still says this will take time but will eventually do and i will be able to go for months with-out having to donate

good deal jpk! I just donated on Wednesday (first time in 20 years - sheesh) but am planning to get on the regular routine. Partly because my hemoglobin was 16.5 and it's getting pretty high, but also to help others out. I think I feel 'better' but it may just be a placebo effect...

rebel - I thought that you only need a prescription for a medical phlebotomy if certain levels are not in-range (iron, hemoblobin, hematocrit me thinks?), otherwise you can just donate.

my levels were at 20 hemo when i first started, you must have script to donate weekly with a target hemo set by doc, read the link i posted earlier it has all the requirements for a medical phlebotomy.otherwise you cant give weekly.they dont want blood with hemo that high, also you need to get hemo back in line asap and not drag it out and risk other medical problems

UP DATE::: went to specialist thursday and appoint went great! he is going to contact my family doc and tell him its ok to up my script to 200 a week!! also specialist told me my test range of 851 wasnt too high and that he has some who like their levels as high as 2000,he also told me i dont have to come see him every month anymore, just come whenever i had a problem or felt the need to up my test dosage again. also found out what might have pissed my family doc off, specialist sent him a note a month ago about me having more than a months suppy on hand at a time,i told specialist that it was the cheapist way for me to get 10ml vials and that money was a factor for me and he understood and would recomend to my family doc to keep me on 10ml vials for that reason..
