Kaiser taught me how to pin (this actually happened!)
I thought I'd get this one in the right forum. Just a quick background, I'm a little older, and on trt for awhile. But I've always had to go in to the Kaiser injection clinic for my biweekly injection. Recently, I've decided to accept an offer to join a team in Kabul as a civilian, and since no civilian doctors there for me, realized I had to learn to do this on my own. My GP insisted he wouldnt' prescribe any test cyp to take (the chief of party said bring a 6 mo supply of all meds until they can get a supply line for me), but I continued to push, and met with an endo today that agreed to fill the Rx. And he wanted me to learn how to pin, which is a fair stipulation.
So I show up at the nurses station, and this hippy 60's throwback chic was going to show me. But she looked all puzzled, and asked where my partner was? partner? yes, she said... the someone that will do the injecting for me. "I'm sorry, but I'm leaving the country and there will be no one but myself so I need to learn this on my own". She almost had a cow. She said how are you going to give yourself a shot in the hip? Are you real flexible and can you twist that much? "Pardon me?" Well, she continued, you have to give yourself the injection in the hip, that's where we do it. I explained that no, I'm not a contortionist, so why don't we develop a plan B and find some place else, like maybe the leg???? She was really frazzled, and then when she saw I had 25g needles, she flipped out again, and said this isn't going to work! "What's not going to work?" Well, she said, these needles will NEVER work, they just won't do! By this time, she had already dropped her first F bomb, and i'm being very quiet and mellow. So we go over to the injection clinic for a second opinion. As I was standing right next to the injection chart, which by the way, illustrated injecting the quads, she is asking the clinic nurse if there is some other place I can inject since there is no one to help me. The nurse just looked at her quietly and said would there be a problem using the leg? I said no, and then hippie nurse said, "Are you sure?", and I said I'm quite sure. By this time, I made up my mind this chic aint touching me with any needles. The rest of the "education" was more or less uneventful, but by now she had already dropped her second F bomb.
The injection itself was uneventful. We practiced with some saline solution, (I was hoping we would use the cyp she practiced drawing with the 25ga needle with, but she THREW AWAY that one).
Anyways, mates. Take heart. For those of you on Kaiser, they WILL allow you to take your injection away from the clinic, but you must have a pretty good reason.
Now only if I can get them to prescribe some HGH...? (naw... that'd be asking too much!)

Damn I wouldn't wanna have her do my injects. I would have requested a new nurse after the first f bomb.

Another winning story for Kaiser. Hello, Kaiser Management Team, do you read any of these posts??? There's never any good stories about KP! GP's, Endos, nurses, it's all the same!
BTW, 25g works great. There's no trick to having to pin in the hip. I'm not flexible at all, but have done it countless times. However, I switched to quad shots, which are easier, but could easily do the hip/glutes again if needed.

I was wondering when I'd hear from you. Funny. I started out with 25g, but hippie nurse chic had a cow and made me switch to 22g. She also hooked me up with dozens of 18g to draw from which was cool.
But you are absolutely right. My Doc made it sound like there was no way in hell I could self inject (oh really?). The reality is, it was his policy, not the hospitals policy, but he wouldn't fess up to that part.
I'm good with the top part of the quad, no pain, so no issues.
I already got my email back from the Dubai duty free pharmacy, and they are doing a price check on some test cyp for me. My next email to them will be for some kind of tropin (HGH), but I need to find out which tropins I should ask for (started a new thread already).
Bottom line... Kaiser is like a flat ball, if you want it to roll, ya gotta kick the hell out of it, and once you stop kicking, it stops rolling.
