Thought I'd post this in hopes of helping people understand how androgel and test. cyp. differ/compare in terms of dosages. I hadn't wrapped my mind aorund the numbers until this morning. I am switching from the gel to injectible in the next week and that's what got me to thinking about the comparison.

Androgel is a 1% testosterone gel and is typically dosed at 5gms, 7.5gms. or 10gms. daily. Approximately 10% of the testosterone is absorbed into the skin for use by your body (product literature). Over a 30 day period and given the 10% absorption rate, this is what you are getting with the gel in terms of a dosage:

5gms/daily = 150mg./mo.
7.5gms./daily = 225mg./mo.
10gms./daily = 300mg./mo.

Test. cyp. and test. enan. is typically found at a 200mg. per ml. strength, and doctors usually tell you how many mg. they want you on per period of time. In my case, my initial prescription is for 200mg. (1ml.) every two weeks. Of course, this will be 400mg. per month which is effectively more than I was getting with my highest dose of the gel. And, I won't have to worry about that clammy feeling in warmer weather, swimming/showers or cross-contaminating my wife.

Some of you are on even greater quantities of the injectible. I thought the comparison between the two in terms of dosage delivered was interesting and explains why my endo. said that I wasn't on a very high dose of testosterone with the gel.

Let me know if you have any thoughts on my calculations...I think they hold up OK.
