Question HRT, Arimidex and Lipid Profiles

I have a real problem with aromatisation. This started some three years ago. This has adversely affected my sex drive. Also, my test levels have dropped a lot as a result.

In order to control aromatisation, I find Arimidex to to be the only effective option. But A-dex screws up my lipid profiles a lot and I am unwilling to have bad lipid profiles long term.

For the record, I have tried using Arimidex in low doses (0.25 mg per week) but the effect remains the same. The lipid profiles have even gotten screwed up even when I have had relatively high levels of estrogen - in the upper third of the normal range.

Is there a way to use Arimidex long term without screwing up your lipid profile?

My understanding is Arimidex is the brand name for Anastrazole. Anastrazole is not supposed to affect lipids so I think you need to look for another culprit.

Is your HDL low or good? Is you LDL high or good?

Low E2 will raise LDL and lower HDL. So if you are driving your E2 too low with the AI you are going to affect lipids. Also, lipid values will change slowlly over time. So if your E2 is high for a month, don't expect dramatic changes in your lipid values based on E2 changes.

Liquidex is definitely bad for lipid profile as well as Letro. Aromasin is much easier on lipids and a very good choice for controlling e2.

ok - this was done on women, but here is a study which says adex showed a beneficial effect on lipid profiles at 1mg/day. There are others out there like it:

I think it is best when the values of both T and E2 are in the proper place.

With T in upper 1/3rd of range, and E2 in lower 1/3rd.

Too low of E2 is IMHO worse than too high.

I crashed mine recently with letro, and now got some arimidex on hand and waiting for the sex drive to return before I use the Arimidex.

Plan to use 0.2mg of liquidex E3D with 120mg of test. I'd rather my E2 be just a smidge high than low.

The aim is for 25pg/ml, but if its got to go one way or another I'd rather it be around 30-35 than 20.

The problem I have is that I cannot get genuine Aromasin without a prescription whereas I can get generic Arimidex which actually works.

For the record, my E2 has never been in the bottom 1/2 in ANY blood test I ever carried out. BUT, my HDL has dropped and LDL has risen by using Arimidex in even very small amounts and even when my E2 has been high.

My lipid profile is usually healthy and within the normal range without using Arimidex.

Yes Anastrazole (Arimidex ) can lower HDL Levels.

In one study, 280 mg per week of testosterone ester (enanthate ) had a slight but not statistically significant effect on HDL cholesterol after 12 weeks, but when taken with an aromatase inhibitor a strong (25 0/0) decrease was seen. 365 Studies using 300 mg of testosterone ester (enanthate) per week for twenty weeks without an aromatase inhibitor demonstrated only a 13% decrease in HDL cholesterol,

    William Llewellyn's ANABOLICS

But he did not state how much AI was used in the studies.

My libido is about as good as it gets on 200mgs/week or test but every time I use adex, letro or even nolvadex (when I start to get gyno symptoms) within 2 days of my initial dose (no matter how small) my sex drive takes a nosedive. It takes a while to recover also. I'll usually take one of the drugs I mentioned for a week and the pre-gyno symptoms go away (letro seems to be the strongest and the best for me btw) but it takes a good 2-3 weeks for my sex drive to return to normal. Anyone else run into this?

Same issue here with the AI. It doesn't take much, just 0.50 mg / week, to kill my libido and make me feel like crap. Recently I added HCG to my protocol. I have to say it is countering the negative affects of the AI rather nicely. My mood is much much better and my sex drive is doing really great even on the AI.

It's difficult for me to follow this discussion on arimidex and sex drive. When I take .25mg, every four days or so, along with my Test protocol, my sex drive goes UP. I may be mistaken about this but if a person drives there E2 level too low, isn't it just like having the symptoms of low T - no sex drive? Is this is what is happening to you guys?? What are you doing about it?
