Question about donating when on?
Hi all,
Been thinking about donating platelets and possibly making a bone marrow donation?
I have given blood before and not mentioned anything and everything was OK.
It only says tick if you take injectable androgen's as you might have HIV due to sharing needles. Of course us users here are not junkies and use proper antiseptic techniques so it's not an issue.
Also the fact that the blood is split up and filtered before use.
I would never want to put a patient at risk.
My fear with the bone marrow transplant is them not knowing that im on and if I encounter complications when out and they administer something without all the details I could get royally screwed.
Not necessarily directly from the anesthetic as I have been under three times before with no problems, but if something happens when I have no ability to talk.
What's your take on this?
Maybe I could email the donation clinic anonymously and see what they say?
Thanks

i wish you would and update this post with their response...
if youre doing aas(injects) WITHOUT an Rx and dont lie on the paperwork you should/will be dq'd from donating...
those on with Rx can answer that question truthfully and proceed..
i believe Bass is on RX aas so i dont know how he went afoul...but bass does have a largemouth

nothing on the questions! they declined me because my hemoglobin was high, thats the only thing they checked for! mine was 18.7 and the max to qualify for donation is 18.3

BTW, red cross declined me because of high hemoglobin and being on TRT, even though the question was do i take any steroids not prescribed by a doctor? and i answered no of course. confusing!

she went online and pulled out a statement regarding testosterone , which states it disqualifies me, but thats only for red cross in that particular office/area, in some states they don't care. in their questions they say "steroids ", no specific type of steroids, just steroids!

I'm on self prescribed androgen's (the best type of perscription )
I'm gonna send an email later on when I get a chance to write it up properly
If not they will just read it as
"Guy injecting himself with god knows what, addictive type behaviour and looking to donate? Tell him, NO!"
I want to write it up as professional as I can
I'll update if I get a response!

"steroids " is a very broad class. My dad gets a steroid because of joint issues. No anabolic properties though. The kicker is that "steroid" has some negative sides and reactions with other drugs so he has to be careful. Based on the "general steroids" clause I could see where they would not want that going into sick people who very well may be getting other medicines pumped into them.
