    Settimg myself a goal

I have a buddy I workout with, and he is one of those few gifted men that are very lean and gain and keep muscle VERY easily. I was with him last year when he got up 405 on the bench(he is 210lbs) and he was pumped. So I told him the other day I am getting up 405 by the end of the summer. So yesterday i was talking to him and he said you should be able to do 315 for about 11 reps to even be close to getting up 405. So last night I tried it and I got up 5 reps. So I am almost halfway there. So I am really going to start hitting the gym extra hard to see if I can reach my goal.

I would say if you can do 315 at least 8 times, then 405 is no problem. I believe there is a bench table at criticlebench.com that can help decipher where your reps need to be to meet a higher 1-rep max weight on bench...

No the table tells you if you can bench X (weight) 8 times then you can probably do a 1-rep max of X (weight).

probably but not necessarily. Everyone is different. Some people have better endurance, some better top end max power. But the table gives you a good idea of where you are at.
For example my friend can do more reps at 275, but I have a higher max.
