In men DHEA tends to convert more to Estrogen and DHT - blood work and dose are VERY important. Most of the studies that show benefits in older men are usually ONLY using DHEA and nothing else of value. I've found no benefit of taking it at any dose. My AI helps blunt the Estrogen conversion but it still converts to DHT like crazy - acne, greasy skin, more hair shedding, etc.

At the end of the day Bloodwork is your most important tool!

To my knowledge DHEA doesnt directly convert to estrogen or dht. It converts to androstenedione then testosterone . The reason it tend to elevate estorgen so much in men is that it in essence has 2 opportunites to aromitize , one as androstenedione and the other as test. The reason it elevates dht so much is similar both andro and test can be 5 alpha reduced. Conversion to test is ridiculously low , like .35% and even that is dependant on alot of factors and prob high as far as real life conversion. At any rate all in all its pretty much useless except if you are older and have lower naturally occuring levels of dhea. Even then I cannot imagine it having any type of a pronounced effect.

I like to know the conversion to DHT ratio. DHT is not our enemy and is the foundation for a strong libido. My Doc has me on 50 mg before bed time. He likes supplementing both DHEA and Preg in daily low doses. The Preg I take is in a cream. Taking Preg via a pill is worthless as the liver just wipes it out.

Preg = Pregnenolone; the "mother of all hormones". And why men need hCG on TRT as Pregnenolone is mostly produced by the testes.

    Good read: http://www.antiaging-systems.com/165...one-metabolite

Good stuff! Thanks for the heads-up Surprisingly, it seems to be pretty inexpensive and readily available from vitamin shops etc. I'd like to ask you more about it but don't want to thread-jack. GD, would you mind starting a separate thread on this? I'm sure there are others who'd be interested. Just a thought.
