What if You Stop Dieting on TRT?
I realize that if you have high body fat then you have a higher likely hood of converting T into E, but are there any other downsides to not dieting while on TRT?
Obvious downside: Look like crap.

What do you mean...."dieting"......I don't "diet" and I feel fine, I choose to eat food that is much better for me than I used to but I don't "diet". I guess we need to determine what is your idea of dieting. TRT or not, if you have poor eating habits it will have all the obvious negative effects. TRT isn't magic......it wont turn a cheeseburger into six pack abs. If you eat like crap you'll look and feel like crap regardless of TRT ...if you eat well with proper nutrition being foremost in your decision making at meal time then TRT can more easily do what it was designed to do and you will not only look good but you will feel great. And stuff like that.
LOL I just saw JPKs reply.......if you're just craving a burger, hell ya, go eat one and then get after it hard again tomorrow......that's what I do from time to time.Last edited by JD250; 06-10-2011 at 10:30 PM.

Yeah, JPK I am trippin! I'm always on this constant roller coaster. I'll diet down to about 10-12% bf and then within no time I'll be back at 18-20% bf. It pisses me off that I can't just stick to it! My biggest problem is where I work my coworkers are always tempting me to eat unhealthy stuff. I can be strong for a long time, but then once I give in I'm like a mad man. I lose all control! Once I lose control it is damn difficult for me to get back on the diet.

If you feel like crap when dieting, then you need to ditch YOUR diet!
Grumpy and hunger usually come from low blood sugar. Happy when eating crap often comes from the sugar/carb rush. But with sugar rush comes sugar crash if you don't keep it up. And that is when you feel like crap and grumpy.
Take a look at the book "The Edge Effect" by Eric Braverman, M.D. It gets into hormones via diet. Now I'm talking mood hormones here, not HRT hormones. He doesn't touch on that at all.
Most importantly, you need to take a hard look at your diet and revamp it. You will never be able to stick with a diet if you feel like crap on it. You need to find a diet that is health and makes you feel better. That will take some good self evaluation as to what kind of body you have, being able to turn your back on the "conventional wisdom" and tune your diet to your needs. Braverman's book has some tests that you take to help you determine what kind of diet you need to keep your mood hormones at their optimum.
My personal experience is that the low fat diet just plain sucks. Two eggs and 2 slices of bacon for breakfast and I feel great all morning. No cravings either. If I eat a bowl of that healthy cereal stuff with skim milk for breakfast, I am eating all kinds of stuff all morning because I am hungry. So bottom line is I actually eat less calories if I have eggs and bacon for breakfast. And I lose weight.
Good luck.

agree with gnbm...i do well/feel better on pro/fat meals.....and feel better on days i eat well and poor on days i dont...i dont know why i still crave the poor foods (desserts being the worse)i guess its not hard to tell that i do poorly on sugar than anything else...pizza would be a better cheat choice for me even i guess cuz of the protein and fat along with the carbs of the bread helps neutralize the blood sugar but dessert choices on cheat meals makes me hungry just a little later
and i hear you about being around ppl that indulge often...it doesnt help..but if you really want it you will stick to your own plan

Very good info.....I also have found that I not only feel better with a certain amount of fat in my diet(not fries from BK) but I can actually maintain and even lose weight easier.......gotta find ways to make stuff taste good too. A big breakfast for me is the difference between a good day and a bad one as far as energy levels......gotta have my oatmeal and eggs..........I also eat a good fatty steak from the grill on a regular basis.......satisfies the cravings and doesnt seem to ruin weight loss goals if done in moderation.
Thanks for the info on the book GNBM....sounds interesting.

goos info guys! diet works only 4 weeks at a time, so you got to keep chaining it. i was so against cheat day, but when i tried it it was the best, i eat clean for 6 days and pig out on Sunday, i mean anything, everything and as much as i can stuff in my belly! it works. this way you don't say damn this food sucks, but in stead you'll say, its okay Sunday is around the corner! starchy carbs especially from grain are the worse for me, i guess i am allergic to gluten. stay away from high GI foods, and like the guys said fatty foods are your friend, and i am not talking about bacon or sausage, but foods like a good London broil steak, fish, raw nuts, whole eggs, olive oil, little butter, yes butter, make sure its real butter!, skim milk, all kinds of greens, apples and other low GI fruits, honey and tea! just do a search for low GI foods then mix and match, and make sure you change your diet every 4 weeks, like go no carbs 6 days and replenish on the seventh for 4 weeks, then go diet with carbs every day still keep it low but do it every day for 4 weeks then go back and forth.

If I could change one thing about my life, it would be getting up early enough to cook eggs every morning for breakfast. And yes, over easy with runny yolks. But alas, after morning sex I often find I have no time for cooking eggs, which is why I keep hard boiled eggs in the fridge.

nah, eggs are better than sex! LOL!

lmao....try the costanza theory...eggs and sex at the same time...lol
well i've done the beer whilst anyway
back to the eggs i can eat em runny but seems as if too much is left on the plate...
and bass, sunday is my day too....wahoo...manana!!!!!..i actually stay under 3500 cals anyway unless occasionally 5 beers or several whisky/rum and diets my cals slip up to 4,000 but for the week average when i'm maintaing weight i average 2900 /3000 a day

3000 cals! what are your stats JP? just curious!
now that you mentioned beer, hell i cut beer out of my diet completely so not to mess with my natural test, now that i'm on TRT i don't think that matters anymore, so i'll pop some brewski tomorrow!

better yet, get ur own chickens and eat real eggs. most of the cheap eggs in the store have been in cold storage so long they are not even eggs any more. farmer here eats at least 6 fresh eggs/day and i know what they have been fed.

funny you mention that, i used to have 30 chickens and was getting about 15-20 fresh eggs every day, but at that time i wasn't on a diet or working out, so i gave them away because they were allot of work! but now that my whole family lives on eggs i am thinking of getting my own chickens again!
