What kind of "results" can I expect from TRT?
Hey guys,
Doc just started me on TRT.
6'2"
162#
18% BF
Ive always been skinny and have struggled to put on size even after 2 years of lifting/eating.
My free testosterone came back on the low end (9.3 where the low cutoff was 9.0 and high is 30.0). So doc gave me 200ug testosterone last week. I'm to go back in 2 weeks and again in 4 weeks for two more shots then get re-tested.
Should I notice a difference in my LBM? I have a personal trainer and am hitting the weights pretty hard. How long before I see/feel anything happen?
I'd say my mood has been better in the last week, so that I'm sure is helping my overall outlook on life.

well one week is too soon for it to do anything but everyone is different! it sounds like your doc doesn't know much about TRT, anyone here will tell you that injecting every two weeks is the worst thing you can do, many will suggest to split the does to once a week @ 100 mgs, the half life of test cyp is about 6-8 days, so your body will be depleted from testosterone on day 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14! there is allot more that goes with TRT than just testosterone, you also need to discuss AI and if you are planing to have children later on then discuss hCG ! others will chime in soon!
BTW, how old are you?

Like Bass say, there is a lot about that you not doing.
You ask what you ca expect:
-increase libido, loosing BF, gains muscle, increase strength, increase energy, fell young, sleep better, increase appetite, increase metabolism.
-there is some sides: most complain being asshole after TRT, marriage problems do to increase of sex drive, have to do blood work constantly, donate blood constantly.

i also agree with bass but i cant agree w/ what you say about the asshole thing...there have been VERY FEW posts that ive read in almost 6 years here eluding to that fact ...no disrespect but i cant agree with it termed MOST by any stretch...other than that agree also 100%...even the marriage problems and other advice...
also agree with the basster on every week protocol being better but coming from what i've experienced, i would do every 2 weeks before nothing at all
my .02

In my experience:
-decreased fat
-affinity to adding muscle moreso than fat in a caloric surplus
-overall sense of well being and great mood
-lust for life and all-day energy
-better focus
-higher libido, strong wood, morning wood
-higher appetite
-godforsaken crash if your regimen isn't set up to keep blood levels stable

Sorry I forgot to mention that I'm 40.
I've been doing a lot of reading here and I think I should ask my doc for bloodwork the day before and two days after my shot right?
I assume I'll eventually be giving myself the shots? And I think my goal is to get total Test and free Test in the upper third of normal range and then just take TRT for life to keep it there?
Sorry for all the questions! Thanks for your help, guys.

What are you talking about? Where are you getting this? Please speak in the "I" or "In my opinion" when making a statement such as this. Rambling one's personal thoughts as being fact (when they're not) helps no one on the board especially the individual who is new to TRT...

My experiences about the same. Definitely go shots. Gels are hard to use especially if you are in a humid climate.
I have only had positive effects once all of my levels were in line. The only negative for me is the night sweats that I continue to have regardless of what my levels are. I've learned to keep the AC on a lower temperature and just deal with it.
I have never been accused of being an A**H**E, but I have been told I'm more decisive and solid in my disposition. Additionally, I have a large frame and carried a good bit of fat on the upper body. I always thought diet was the answer, and as a result I always looked emaciated. TRT caused me to lose about 90% of that fat and replace it with about 25 pounds of muscle mass in the course of a year. Disposition changed as well..not sure if hormones fixed that or just the positive physical changes...maybe both. I'm a different person in every way regardless. So it's worth the risk.
Involve your wife in your therapy, and you won't ever have problems there.
And yes, get your bloodwork checked on a regular basis until you are leveled out. We now check it about every 6 months, and usually he checks on the morning of the day I am scheduled take my shot (I do 2X a week). He keeps my T ranges at almost the top of the range and my E2 at the 19-23 level. All I know is that it works.

In defense of 38jumper38.........a few of us made reference to letting our e2 get way out of whack which does have a tendancy to make a person emotional .........but in no way does that reflect on proper TRT protocol, that is usually a case of not paying attention to your health or not understanding how this stuff works, in fact I would say that my attitude is 100 times better now than it was during my low T days (the dark years)
It is however worded poorly 38, I would hate the thought of someone being turned off to a better life because of a statement like that.
To the OP.....TRT has given me my life back in ways that are hard to explain in a short post, it's at the top of my list of things I'm thankful for.
"what can you expect"??......Your life back. Enjoy it.......it's like a second chance.
